New Comiskey was hardly a Dodger Stadium clone, and wasn't hated when it first opened. In fact, HOK's design for Camden Yards was basically an asymmetrical clone of New Comiskey. The Orioles' Larry Lucchino didn't like HOK's plan and had it changed to his own design ideas. HOK's version of OPACY sucked.

Check out the rest of that guy on flicker's photos. He's taken a tour of the country and has some absolutely stunning pics in there, like the Grand Cyn from 30,000 feet. Also quite a few high-res ballparks and some rail pics.

    Great find!

It's been posted on here before. Probably on the OPCY thread.

This was HOK's first OPACY concept.

Their second attempt wasn't much better--basically a carbon copy of New Comiskey plopped next to the warehouse.

Matt Kemp tours the Dodger Stadium offices:

Listen to what a nosy lady asks Matt (whom she doesn't realize is Matt Kemp) when he tries to sell her some tickets.

RYS to NYS: "Obi-Lonn never told you what happened to your father."

NYS: "He told me enough. He told me you killed him - in the 1970s!!"

RYS: "No, I am your father..."

NYS: "No, it's not true, that's impossible!!!!"

RYS: "Look beyond my respirator pods and my upper crown; you know it to be true!

Like every thing else in this century, ballpark design has gone decidedly conservative compared to when Yankee Stadium was cantilevered up to 70' during renovations.

That was out of necessity. But it could be applied in many sports if architects cared.

Imagine being THIS close to Tony, Dale Jr., Mark the old man, Casey, and Satan! . . .

No no no - what I illustrated there was DAYTONA with RYS cantilevered grandstands along side it! Imagine, peering down from the front edge of the upper deck onto the roofs of stock cars going by at nearly 200mph. Lends new meanng to "NO OBJECTS ON LEDGE". Imagine someone's 1/2gallon Super Saver Slurpee falling in front of the pack - at those speeds the slurpee would penetrate the windshield and the driver's SKULL and that'd be all she wrote I'ma teyya'whut..

You took my favorite stadium and my second favorite racetrack and put them together.

One would expect great things to come out, but I have been left with a foul taste in my mouth.

You have the right to your opinion. Let's let others chime in.

Can't be any worse than what's happening to the place now.

Gerardo Parra, a lefthand batter, steps in to lead off. Harvey's first pitch on the way, it's a fastball on the inside corner for a called strike, nothing and one, a 93-mile per hour fastball to Gerardo Parra. Parra batting at .281 with 6 homers, 28 runs batted in. - Howie Rose's call of Matt Harvey's very first pitch in the big leagues... Mets at Arizona, July 26, 2012

I thought this thread was about Dodger stadium. How did it get around to HOK, Yankee Stadium and NASCAR?

NONE of you even got my illustration. What I MEANT to imply was that the aggressive cantilevering of RYS - WHEN APPLIED TO THE GRANDSTANDS AT DAYTONA!!!! - would put three levels of spectators literally door to door with stock cars screaming by at 190+mph.

NOWHERE did I state that a nascar track be run through RYS.

What do we have here, JJJ disease??? Come on people, this is a simple concept.

Back to dem Bums, now, please!

Hey that's a cool picture of Citi Field... I kid, I kid.

But seriously, they had to pick orange as the background color for the pictures, advertisements, and signs? Not Dodger blue, not white, or red, but orange? It seems like Dodger's stadium concourse has more Mets colors than Citi Field.
