OK, let's say Coco gets traded to the Braves. That means we would have to trade some minor leaguers. I don't mind that, but I need to see what Crisp's contract is.

According to Cot's Baseball Contracts blog, Crisp will be making $4.75 million in 2008 and $5.75 million in 2009.

I don't think Bobby ever really liked speed. I think if you have it then Bobby will use it but when it came to building a team the Braves were never a speed team with Bobby maybe except for the Furcal years.

I don't think Kelly got in the doghouse as much as it was Yunel earning more playing time. Kelly Johnson was a favorite when he first came up and Bobby stuck with him and I still think that. Kelly has good speed (shown by his 10 triples) but just not good basestealing ability.

    Here is his contract info.

    07:$3.5M, 08:$4.75M, 09:$5.75M, 10:$8M club option ($0.5M buyout)

I think a combo of Joey Devine and Jose Ascanio will get him and get the Red Sox to pay a little of his salary considering it is only one year. Also I like Coco's contract because if the Braves feel Schafer is ready they just trade Coco, but if the Braves don't think he is they still have Coco for a year. Being in a family with Red Sox fans the only real position they will need (that I can see) next season is RP and maybe 3B, the Braves have some decent young RP that could fit that bill.

I think the heir apparent to replace Andruw needs to come within the system no need to go outside the organization when you have Jordan Schafer down on the farm and could see time as early as 08

The main concern I have with Schafer starting in CF is that he might be rushed and might set him back in his development. I would much rather sign someone for a year or trade for someone like Coco Crisp then risk ruining a good prospect like Schafer because the Braves really don't have much else.

    JC,

There has already been speculation that bringing up Francoeur early has retarded his plate discipline. There's no need to screw up Schafer. He's not ready anyway. I'd rather have Crisp or Lillibridge in center.

Rather go with Lillibridge then, my main point was going outside of the organization wouldn't be the answer.

Then Lillibridge is the answer, because there is no way in hell I want Willie Harris starting in center field.

i think i might have to agree with JC on this one too. i would prefer to not go outside the organization, cause I think all the extra money needs to go to pitching. Unless Liberty is really expanding the payroll (100 million or more).

I think crisp would be a good gap guy, but I don't even know if he's worth it. Ellsbery is starting over him now and he's not even really better( less defense, same bat).

When do you think a decision will be made about glavine? Sooner or later?

I'd say as soon as the 14 day window after WS is over.

I think Crisp is worth it only if we can get the Red Sox to pay at least a million preferably two. If not then I am all for Lillibridge starting next year in CF.
