Thread: How Old Were You, When You Got Your First Over-the-Fence Homer?

  1. #51
Had several as a freshmen in practice when it was just batting practice. My first REAL one that was in a HS game was as a junior and it was a mistake. I had actually gotten fooled on a pitch, got on my front foot and got under it. It just sailed and went out. Not sure of the distance but it was a standard HS field. Each HR that I hit from that point on was a mistake. I would just be trying to drive the ball and I'd end up getting under it a bit and off it would go.

1982, Tepper Ball Fields, Arvada, Colorado I was 11 years old. It was a fastball off of John Imerzel. My sixth grade girlfriend Stacy Cook was there. The Ball traveled approximately 215'. I played for Peak Enterprises and we went 12-0 that season.

I still remember what she was wearing when I crossed the plate.

I couldnt tell you what was on TV last night, but I remember that game.

Tell us something like, you ended up marrying her
Mythical SF Chronicle scouting report: "That Jeff runs like a deer. Unfortunately, he also hits AND throws like one." I am Venus DeMilo - NO ARM! I can play like a big leaguer, I can field like Luzinski, run like Lombardi. The secret to managing is keeping the ones who hate you away from the undecided ones. I am a triumph of quantity over quality. I'm almost useful, every village needs an idiot.

Never hit one over the fence......hit one to the base of the CF fence (215') when I was 11......ended up with a Triple............that was more than 40 years ago and I'll never forget it

Last year i was 13 already 6'1 165 pounds or something and it went about 330 feet really high i thought it was a popup but it was Back Back Back Back, Gone!

I still have a video of it somewhere on my dads cellphone.
I was pinch hitting in the 4th Inning and i was the first batter, got 1 ball waaaay inside ankle height. Second pitch right down the pipe and that was my first.

This year i almost got another one in the first game, but there wasn't a fence so i just went for third(easily could have been a homer but we were up by 6 and i just ran to third)

3 balls 1 strike, pitch low and in just drilled it about 370 with an ash C243 33-32. My coach filmed it hope he still has it.

12 years old in LL...pulled the ball down the left field line, never got more than 10 feet off the ground and hooked around the foul pole. Fence was 210'.

Hit many more since then and each one is awesome.
