    In a word ... "separation".

Some also refer to it as upper body torque.

A common cue is "hips before hands".

For a good description read Epstein's book.

Epstein has three main drills. His first drill is "The Torque Drill" in which his students hit away from an upper body torqued position. In his second drill, "The Numbers Drill", he has the student go through a swing sequence ... 1, 2, 3 ... #2 is the torque position.

Yeager himself is on record as stating that there are two primary sources of power in the elite MLB swing, and one of those sources is creation of upper body torque.

Tom House also talks about "winding the rubber band" and separation in pitching.
