Ya, he'a a FA, I remember signing him.

I used to be the GM of the White Sox, so consult the old thread and feel free to PM me if you want any help.

Free-agency hasn't begun yet because we still have not completed the re-signing period, we're nearly done with the active GM's and we will do something for the CPU teams real quick, like letting Mogul re-sign whichever players they want.

But it shouldn't take too long in the BBFTG; it might take forever in the real MLB, but I doubt the FA period frenzy goes on longer than 2-4 weeks, so, I'm hoping we will start soon to finish.
We still have the draft too.

The Royals have placed Alex Gordon, Jason Giambi and John Smoltz on the trading block. Alex Gordon will be traded only in a package deal involving either giambi, smoltz or both.

I'm going to have to step out of this league. Im real sorry guys, I didn't realize how much there was to this particular league + the combination of things heating up at work....I don't think I'd be able to devote the time needed.

    Again, I'm real sorry.

Don't worry about it, as long as you're back.

Don't take it too seriously, and no, there's no trouble, just try to stay active.

    NOTICE:
The free-agent re-signing period has gone on long enough and WILL end officially this Friday at 11:59 PM EST, after that, free-agency will resume the next week followed sometime after that by the draft.

So if you haven't gotten your offers in yet, DO IT!

It's okay Phenom, don't take it personally, we're just trying to make this as active as possible.

If you ever decide to come back, we'll be here with open arms.

    Take care!

We are looking at starting the draft at 3 PM Friday afternoon. Like last year, Its a 24 hour clock. If you see that your pick is coming up and you don't think you will be able to be online for whatever reason, just send me a PM with who you want to pick. More info on the actual draft is in the draft thread and there is a lot of info on the actual players on the draft website which there is a link to in the thread. If you have any questions, let me know. The entire official draft order will be released asap.

With that said, Giants, you are (unofficially) on the clock

Bagwell's contract expires with BOS too, making him a FA, but I will guess he will retire.

I am writing this because I noticed that Bagwell was not listed on Boston's FA list in the Agent council thread.

I just saw the file and man, your teams are stacked. Did you know the attributes of all these players before you got them?

Some I did and some I got lucky, but my farm is dead! on the batting side that is.

You can check out my team thread - I have a list of transactions on them and you can compare them.
Also, a lot of my trades, I would throw in a lot of my prospects - my crappy ones to get greater starters, which is why I bet I have the smallest farm system out of everyone, the last I checked I don't have enough to make a 40 man roster!
But the Victor Moreno for John Thomson trade was one where I knew Moreno's numbers and that was a steal. Thomson was a FA so I figured I might as well deal him and see what I can grab, I cought a pretty nice fish that time.

I got lucky with Pena because, I didn't even know who the heck he was other than he was hitting good!

Drew Stubbs is not supose to be as good as he is, baseballstar is going to open up the editior and edit all the old prospects from the last draft.

Edit: My farm isn't dead I guess - well not on the pitching side, I'm proud of the pitching prospects I got.
To bad for me that the numbers don't mean anything - I had a stacked team last year, but didn't even make the world series Though i'm sure A-rod should help

idk if you are referring to me but i traded for marte, hart, snyder, clevlen, aybar etc. before i ever saw the file. I knew that they were pretty big prospects w/ their respective teams (remember this is from 06) and tried to bring them in.

I never look at attributes, worthless to me unless it's a prospect.

I scout the player thru his previous stats and I try to read up on them in any book/fantasy magazine/forum I can get.

And another thing...3 seasons until arbitration right?

    Nationals acquire the Cat

WASHINGTON--The Washington Nationals traded 36-year old outfielder Brian Giles to the San Diego Padres on Saturday morning.
The deal will see outfielder Frank Catalanotto go back the other way to DC.

"It was essentially spare part for spare part.
We felt it would be good for Brian and his family to finish his career in his hometown and the versatility and leadership Frank Catalanotto brings to the table will be very useful to us in 2008."

Catalanotto, 34, split time between the Cleveland Indians and San Diego Padres this past year; he hit .236 in limited time and looks to bounce back next year.

"Last season was not a very good year for me, and I know that, after working a little on my game this past fall, I feel good and I hope that translates to a better campaign.
Manny Acta is a great guy and I'm excited to be moving forward with a contending team like the Washington Nationals"

Heading to San Diego, Brian Giles was acquired from the Cleveland Indians previously, ironically, and struggled as well with the Nationals, hitting a mere .234 but he looks to bounce back in his hometown next season.
