Candy Cummings - Fact or Myth?

I don't know the answer here but...

I've read that Candy Cummings pitched a game where all 27 outs were recorded by himself or the catcher. Hard to believe but I'm guessing strikeouts, pop outs and I would assume at least an assist on ground balls.

Not sure if this was a National League game or in the National Association or League Alliance (I think that's where he had fame in the minors - could be wrong)?

Any ideas?
