Thread: Danbury Mint Stadiums

    Comerica Park

Although I already have a Danbury Comerica Park, i ordered another one as the Mint just made it available again. I wanted to see if they had made any updates.

Turns out they didnt make a single update! Just reissued the same one. Still has bullpens in the wrong location and very little signage. I was disappointed.

    Comerica

Interesting about the reissued Comerica, good find Montana. They are usually right on with the replicas.... They should be coming out with more Jacobs fields soon too. The seem to be slipping with their inventory lately.

When I saw the Polo Grounds version, I was going to buy it until I saw a "double negative"- The Chesterfield sign on the wall (From the Giants' time there between 1948 and 1955; there were two different versions, although I forgot what version was on the model) and the advertising signs on the wall (From the early days to 1948, then the Mets' two years there in 1962 and 1963.)

The advertising signs look closer to the ones when the Mets were there; the second and third thing I would have to buy if I bought the model would be some dark green paint and a modelers' paintbrush to cover the advertising signs on the wall.

I know it sounds anal, but if you're going to do a model of a stadium, don't mess up the details.

Most of the time the advertisements are stickers and you can use an exacto knife to remove them. I have no idea what is under them so you may still have to paint the wall.

I dont think the Mint has come out with any new baseball replicas since Petco park. They told me they dont have plans to reissue dodger stadium either. Of course, that can change in a heartbeat, but for now i wouldnt hold my breath waiting for a new Jacobs "Progressive Field" replica.

I think the Mint has been getting sloppier and sloppier with their newer (what ones they have released) replicas. Seems the paint job and craftsmanship isnt as good. The Comerica Park replica i just received has a much worse paint job then the one i bought about 4 years ago.

Montana, I agree. It took 3 tries until I got a decent one of Busch III. The Mint does seem to be slipping in the craftsmanship.

Danbury Mint - NHL Hockey Arenas

My apology for the repetive post, but I figured I would try again for all newcomers....

I al a huge collector of the DB MInt Stadiums, but also collect the hockey Arenas. I a desperately trying to find, Maple Leafs Garden, HSBC Arena (Sabres) and MCI Center (Caps). I've done ebay, sell.com, google searches, you name it. If anyone happens to find one somewhere, please post a reply.

Once again, my apology for being a bit off topic.

I've been looking for MCI and Madison Square Garden and your right, they are hard to find! I was lucky enough to find HSBC though...

    Mci

Yeah I have wanted to get the MCI myself as I try to collect stadiums and arenas I have been to. Is there any word on the new Nationals Park and also I am surprised University of Phoenix Stadium in Az has not been made. I wonder if they will do a remodeled version of US Cellular Field.

    also...

Does anyone know why the regular models do not have foul poles? I don't get that.

    Lighted Version of Wrigley Field

Over the next several days and weeks, I will post some photos of Danbury Mint stadiums that I have. These will be photos of stadiums that I have never seen posted online.

This is the lighted version of Wrigley Field in Chicago. The detail and size of this stadium is fantastic, and it does have the foul poles!!! I also have the lighted version of Fenway Park, but unfortunately I missed the lighted version of Yankee Stadium before they stopped making it.

    yes...

The deluxe versions of the parks do have foul poles. I don't get why the regular ones do not. They never have had them and it doesnt make sense when they have things such as flagpoles.

    Does anyone...

Know why Veteran's Stadium for the football configuration came in a plain field (with no Eagles logos). It was also offered with the Eagles logo in the ends zones and at the 50. I don't get why they did that.

    Citizens Bank Park

Here is the replica of Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. What a huge improvement over the Vet. Three Rivers in Pittsburgh, Riverfront in Cincinnati, Veterans in Philly and the old Busch in St. Louis were all of the same drab cookie-cutter mold. They were multi-purpose stadiums with little or no design value.

CBP actually does have some character, even though it is home to the Phillies!!! I must say I don't really like the bandbox dimensions, but the stadium itself is pretty nice. I think the Mint did a good job with the replica.

    nice

I have that replica as well of CBP. They did a nice job with that one. I also got Modern Wrigley and PETCO today which are great replicas.

    Petco Park

If you get a chance, please post photos of Petco. I do not have that one yet, but it looks like a nice stadium. It would be nice to see it.

    Shea

Went to Shea for the first time a few weeks ago and I must say I liked it. For a cookie cutter it's not a bad place to watch a game. The replica from Danbury is pretty accurate! I hope Citi field's replica is as accurate, you never know...... Can't wait to see a game there next year.

My wife gave me the Durham Bulls Athletic Park replica for a present. I love that park. Since that was released, they have built another office building above the left field fence. I wonder if they will do another release with the update?

    Can you post a picture...?

    Durham Bulls Athletic Park

Here is a pic of the Danbury Mint replica and one of how it looks now. My lovely wife gave me the replica for a gift when Danbury Mint introduced that stadium. I cannot remember when it was. The actual photo of the stadium was taken last night.

I very seriously doubt that Danbury Mint will update the Bulls Park. I think that the only way you can currently get the park is to go through the Bulls. Danbury Mint won't even acknowledge that they made it!!!

    Angel Stadium

Here is another one of my Danbury replicas that I have not seen posted before. It is Angel Stadium. This has some unique features to say the least. I particularly like the large helmets at the front entrance and the boulders/rocks in left center.

I was unaware that Danbury Mint will not admit they made the DBAP. I can assure you that they definitely made it. My wife purchased it when it first came available. I still have the certificate of authenticity. I will have to see when it was made.

That model of Angel Stadium is beautiful! What I'd really like to see is it side-by-side with DB's model of Anaheim Stadium as it appeared when it was enclosed. That would be an interesting comparison.
