the pix posted isn't oys, here's a pix of the oys tv/radio upper deck booth circa 1950...
the giveaway is the different exit portals, backstop screen and facing of the booth. that pix is from tiger stadium.

i'll send a note to the museum site people...

were these the precursor to luxury boxes?...or did Dodger Stadium have them prior to the construction of these

oys boxes installed for '60, dodger stadium opened in '62.
it's the beginning of the end which is now being taken to absurd levels...

a good book on '47 - '58 baseball in ny is "wait till next year" by christopher jennison and dick young.

off topic - my name came from paul kritchell, who was nyc and chief scout of the nyy for 40 years. he signed my dad out of fordham in '47 and my parents held him in high esteem that several years after his passing they gave me his name.

at oys, the pressbox was very close to the 1st row of the mezzanine as you can see from these pix.
in the new parks the players and media are so separated now, it shows you the changes in baseball over the last 50 years...

btw - get a load of the old-fashioned ticker in the 1st pix.

Came across this a while back. The file name said NY Herald 1920, but the dates in the article make this unlikely (unless "1921 session" was a typo and should have said "1922 session"). Unlikely a ballpark like YS could be built in 7 months, especially when a site hadn't been chosen yet. How long did it take to build the stadium from groundbreaking to opening day, BTW?

The press was certainly a tougher breed back then....writing through some of the worst weather elements, injuries, they never took a day off back then...not like today's era of baseball writers, bunch of pansies
