last night the Reds came from behind to beat the Giants 10-5

the Giants led 2-0, 4-2, 5-3. It was 5-3 in the 8th inning when the Reds scored twice to tie the game''

In the 9th, the Reds scored 5 times, on 1 base hit, a bunt single to lead off the inning. The rest of the inning included sacrifice bunt, walks, errors and a sacrifice fly

    5 runs on 1 hit!

The 2009 Orioles are the first team in 121 years to have to have 5+ pitchers win their MLB debut in the same season.

    Mike Schmidt's 1st HR was a walk-off in 3 consecutive years (1973-75).

Tonight the 2009 Houston Astros became the first team in history to have 3 players hit their 300th career home run - Pudge Rodriguez (May 17th), Lance Berkman (June 13th), and Carlos Lee (August 8th). In theory, Miguel Tejada could go totally ballistic and hit 19 more this season to become the 4th.

In over 46% of MLB games from 1984 to 1991, the winning team scored more runs in a single inning than the losing team scored in the entire game.

Thats not amazing at all. We normally only get 3-4 hits a game so for us to score 5 runs in an inning we are going to need a lot of help, haha.

13 of the last 14 HR of Derek Jeter were to the opposite field.
2 of the 204 career HR of Johnny Damon has been to the opposite field, and none since(at least) 9/28/2006.
Dustin Pedroia hit his 1st opposite field HR on 8/6/2009.
Only 1 of the 22 HR by Curtis Granderson has been to the opposite field this season.
1 of the 80 HR by Ichiro in his career has been to the opposite field.

The only games(2) where Barry Bonds hit HR vs Cubs in 2001 were exactly the same where Sammy Sosa hit his only HR vs Giants that season.

Wills only hit 657 at SS after 32. He played alot of 3B in that time. So only 4 have ever done it.

    Then wouldn't Cal Ripken qualify.

Also when you say after age 32 do you mean "32 years and 0 days" or "32 years and 364 days"? Luis Aparicio would qualify under one scenario but not the other.

By your logic Babe Ruth is the only pitcher to hit over 50 home runs in a career. Babe was a pitcher who played OF in his later years.
What about Arod? Has he hit more home runs than any other 3B, despite only having 220 at the position compared to 509 from schmidt?

    Ruth - 163 G at P, 2241 at OF

    You've had stronger arguments
Mythical SF Chronicle scouting report: "That Jeff runs like a deer. Unfortunately, he also hits AND throws like one." I am Venus DeMilo - NO ARM! I can play like a big leaguer, I can field like Luzinski, run like Lombardi. The secret to managing is keeping the ones who hate you away from the undecided ones. I am a triumph of quantity over quality. I'm almost useful, every village needs an idiot.

What about Arod though. By the time he ends he could have about the same at SS and 3B. What would you consider him then, and would you count the other half of his career when ranking him for best SS/3B?

Freddy Sanchez and Adrian Gonzalez had one 6-hit game in their careers, but 0 5-hit games.

Ichiro has 604 multiple-hit games in his nine-year career. In the live-ball era, no one else has more than 581 (Rogers Hornsby) in any nine-year span.

Evan Longoria recently became the first batter since 1954 (at least) to have 2+ HRs and 4+ Ks in a game.

The Giants are now 1-8 in the opening game of a road trip and have scored all of 22 runs in those 9 games.

    or maybe it's:
"ruth was an outfielder who pitched in his early years."
