How much do they pay writers for nonsense?
NO HANDBALL PLAYING IN THIS AREA
How long until they get an all star game again? I think it would be fun with shots of people catching hr derby balls on the streets outside.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.
The Cubbies are 0-6 at Wrigley Field when they are in the World Series. Build a new ballpark, it's going to be done sooner, or later. Keep Wrigley as a museum.
^ If the Cubs get a new stadium I would do this to Wrigley: Get rid of the entire grandstand (at the very least, the upper deck) but keep the field and the bleachers and turn it into a park.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
^ Another excellent idea! If they do that, then keep the field level seats (but still get rid of the upper deck). And once and for all, fix the damn concrete.

1. Demolish Wrigley Field
2. Move the Baseball Hall of Fame to Chicago
The two worst ideas I have ever read.
Congratulations, you guys.

I see great things in baseball. It's our game - the American game.

the frequency of franchises putting on asg's had to do with the associated costs that the franchise would have to cover, the number of years since the last one in a city and "fairness" are not considerations.
owners like charlie finley weren't interested because of the out of pocket expenses that are now covered by mlb.
mlb is a busine$$.

Does anyone have an image of the cross-section of the Wrigley Field grandstand?
Quick mock up of a renovated Wrigley...
1. The lower deck and bleachers would remain untouched.
2. The mezzanine and upper deck would be torn down and rebuilt.
3. The footprint would remain identical.
4. Upper deck would be identical to current, just raised about 20 feet to allow a second mezzanine and pushed back to eliminate lower posts.
5. Large roof would remain identical--supported by posts, same as current US Cellular Field.
6. New bumped-out concourses built for upper and lower decks would be cantilevered above sidewalk to allow identical footprint of existing structure.
7. New upper deck would be much further away from the field, and higher, resulting in a distinct loss of intimacy of the current Wrigley.

Don't bet on the Wrigley renovations happening anytime soon.

This is probably the best article on the subject so far:

If here before, apologies. 1935 WS, Game 3.
