Hey BSmile (or anyone else), do you have a large version of this photo? I'd love to frame a bigger version of it...

The Mechanical Pitcher Scores Over "Babe" Ruth
June 15-19, 1921 - Polo Grounds N.Y.
Here's a pretty cool wire photo of an early pitching machine being used with the Babe. The first date on the the tag is June 20th, but judging from the White Sox players on the mound, this pic would have to date from June 15-19 (most likely Sunday the 19th). See here: 1921 NY Yankees Schedule

Here's a contribution from me. The only info I have is: Babe barnstorming in Louisville, 1924.

Was That A Strike?
Barnstorming In Louisvillle, KY - June 2, 1924
The look on Babe's face tells me that he's about to disagree with the call...
I know this is not ideal, but I did my best to take this photo and photoshop it. Better than nothing I guess.

Here's a quick variation with bit of color...

Not sure who the dapper gentleman in the middle is. My guess is he's either a local politician or he's involved with the Louisville Colonels team (owner, mgr, etc.)
Great photos! And nice job on adding color to that other one![]()
Thanks BabeRuthFan and BSmile for the shots of the Babe pic that is hanging in the Yankees office. These are much better than what I have!
I apologize for that BS. I have to admit that I hesitated posting the image, but after looking at the resolution of the Sinclair Gas ad I decided to go ahead and post it since it was so much rarer. I'll try to make sure from now on that the pics are better quality or at least post them smaller so they dont look so grainy.
Babefan, no problem!

Here's the final edit from the Louisville series...
Hey fellas,
Do you any of you have any idea when this photo might be from?
I know it's a bit small, so I apologize for that. It's definitely at Comiskey, and most likely, early 30s - might any of you have more info? I didn't see anything in the thread, but it is possible that I missed it - it's pretty long, after all.
Anywho, any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Graig
No doubt that it's Comiskey. Otherwise this is going to be tricky to date.
I can say for sure that it's not the 1933 All-Star Game, because Babe wore pinstripes that day.
I've got a few random shots of Babe that are similar, but with no date...except for one of him at batting practice that's listed as 1933 and credited to George Burke.
I colorized part of the pic a while back, here it is:
I know the Louisville Sluggers folks at H&B started to stamp "Powerized" above their oval design on their bats beginning in 1932.You can see it on Ruth`s bat. There also appears to be some more words under the ''Powerized"and they would be "Bone-Rubbed"(1932) or the additional words could be "Oil-Tempered"(1933-34)That picture would have to be 1932,1933,or 1934.I`m going with "Oil-Tempered"(1933-34)for three please!

Wowzas, thank you guys!! Good call on the 'Powerized' logo, Nimrod. I would imagine that that would mean this is from '32, as he was a bit heavier in '33 and '34. Of course, I'm totally pulling that our of you-know-where, but I think it's a solid theory.
Time to dive even deeper!
Thanks again,
Graig
