Good job by the ladies, but those mysterious hands just to the left of the top box kind of freak me out...I assume they belong to the dark haired lady just behind Babe's right hand?

Crossing The Plate On His First Home Run Of The Season
    84 Years Ago Today - St. Petersburg, FL - March 12, 1930
"Babe Ruth, Sultan Of The Swat, King Of Klouters, and various other cognomens, crossing the plate after hitting his first home run of the 1930 spring training season. Perhaps The Babe's newly signed contract calling for $80,000 per season will act as a spur to his ambition to create a new home run total record for the coming season. This homer of Ruth's was fashioned against the Boston Braves."

Friends -- Although They Can't Come to Terms
    81 Years Ago Today - St. Petersburg, FL - March 12, 1933
"Babe Ruth, mighty slugger of the New York Yankees, poses amiably with his "boss", Colonel Jake Ruppert, owner of the New York Yankees, when the two men met for the first time at the New York team's Florida camp. The picture was made after the men had held a conference as to Ruth's 1933 salary. The Babe demands $60,000 and Colonel Ruppert is said to have offered his drawing card no more than $50,000 for the season."

He Refuses To Take A Cut In Salary, But --
    81 Years Ago Today - St. Petersburg, FL - March 18, 1933
"He refuses to take a cut in salary, but -- what a cut The Babe is taking out of this lettuce-mayonnaise sandwich "on rye"! It does not interfere with his diet program and is a daily routine at his Florida training camp."

Sammy Byrd picked up the nickname "Babe Ruth's Legs".

I didn't even notice that when I put together my original post!
Looks like Sam Byrd was quite a golfer...and Babe's road roommate on the Yankees.

More here: WHO THE HECK IS SAM BYRD – PART 2
"Byrd owned and operated a par-three course and driving range in Birmingham, Alabama, and hired Jimmy Ballard, then seventeen and a state amateur junior champ, as his teaching assistant. Byrd, Ballard says, was Babe Ruth’s roommate on the road, “and it was Ruth who taught Sam the trick of holding a handkerchief beneath his left arm in order to keep his left arm ‘connected’ to his body throughout the swing.” Let’s understand that statement! Every golf teacher emphasizes the relationship between the arms and the body and uses the handkerchief drill as a training aide to correctly maintain the relationship. The drill and the connection theory were taught to Sam by Babe Ruth who used it in his powerful swing. Amazing!! Byrd also became convinced that a good golfer, like a slugger, “braced” with his right leg on the backswing, moved the head slightly to the right as the body naturally “coiled,” and obtained power by “firing” the right side of the body at the target. “One swing was on a level plane, the other on a tilted plane,” says Ballard, relating Byrd’s gospel. “Other than that, they were totally identical.”"

So does this explain his nickname?

Nickname: Babe Ruth's Caddy or Babe Ruth's Legs

    Some Very Fortunate Footage
In case you missed it, Tom Shieber (Baseball Hall Of Fame Senior Curator) has a blog called "Baseball Researcher", and his most recent post concerns dating some very rare archival film footage of The Babe. Tom leads us through the search for where/when it was filmed. The footage itself comes from the Moving Image Research Collections - Digital Video Repository at the University Of South Carolina, (mirc.sc.edu). To read the article and see the footage, go here: Baseballresearcher.blogspot.com - "Some Very Fortunate Footage"

Palm Beach, Florida - February 1929

Here the two contestants are shown in their fighting pose before their bloody battle."

Babe Ruth "Training" With The Yankees
    St. Petersburg, FL - March 7, 1934
Here's a spring training pic that slipped through the cracks, I meant to post this back in March. The Babe is looking spiffy in his golf course duds, no doubt because he just came from there!

Jackie Mitchell Shakes Hands With The Babe
    83 Years Ago Today - Chattanooga, Tennessee - April 2, 1931
(L-R) Lou Gehrig, Jackie Mitchell, Joe Engel & Babe Ruth
Today marks the anniversary of 17 yr. old Jackie Mitchell's infamous pitching feat of striking out Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig at an exhibition game between the Yankees and the Chattanooga Lookouts. Btw, Lou is referred to as "the Late Lou Gehrig" because the wire tag is from the 1950's.

The Babe and Rabbit were reported to have some pretty late nights out drinking together...not that either one needed an excuse to tip a few.
Rabbit was also a drinking buddy of Jim Thorpe.
