Here's the much less common standing pose from that game. It looks like a cold day in Philly!

The Babe Is Out Of His Hospital Bed
    72 Years Ago Today - Hollywood, CA - April 13, 1942
"Babe Ruth got out of his hospital bed long enough to receive a few visitors and said he hoped to leave the hospital in a few days, and possibly return to his home in New York in another week or so. The might(y) Babe took sick during the production of a motion picture base on the life of his ex-teammate, the late Lou Gehrig."

Still The "Sultan Of Swat" To His Admirers
    77 Years Ago Today - Yankee Stadium - April 20, 1937
"Babe Ruth, whose diamond exploits not so long ago thrilled millions of fans, autographing the score-cards of young worshipers who besieged the box of the home run king as he attended the opening game here in the Yankee Stadium here April 20. Looking on is Mrs. Ruth. The one-time Yankee star, who received the acclaim of a record-equaling inaugural crowd of 45,850, saw his former teammates lose, 3 to 2, to the Washington Senators in the first game of their 1937 American League pennant campaign. For a fan, The Babe also had a perfect field day, when he caught and pocketed Frankie Crosetti's foul tip into the stands." Box Score 4/20/1937 - Wash 3 - NYY 2

The Fall That Put Ruth In The Hospital
    83 Years Ago Today - Fenway Park, Boston - April 22, 1931
Boston, Mass: "An astute cameraman working with trigger-like precision managed to get this remarkable picture of Babe Ruth in the act of throwing his more than 200 pound bulk through the air to cross the home plate ahead of catcher Berry's glove containing the throw-in. This fall in the seventh inning, the so-called "lucky seventh" was a direct cause of Ruth's collapse in left field shortly after. He was carried from the field, (the Boston Red Sox field where he got his big league start) and taken to the hospital suffering from what is believed at this writing to be a split bone in his thigh."
