--The Hard Cider sweep the Knights, but the Hornets get back on track with a sweep of their own to keep pace. The Gold Sox fail to take advantage of the opportunity, dropping 2 of 3 to the Diablos. The Angels made it an 11-1 sim for the Cartwright with a sweep of the Gamblers.
--As we enter the All Star break the Legends and Knights hold strong positions in their divisions. The Cartwright is much tighter with the Hornets just 4 back of the Hard Cider and the Diablos only 6 (less than the 2nd place teams in the Hulbert and Johnson) down. The Skipjacks have a little breaking room in the Wild Card race, with the Shoeless Joes and Gold Sox very much in contention. The Redbirds good start is a distant memory and the Badgers, Gamblers and Angels have been looking towards next year since Memorial Day (or perhaps Opening Day).
--One more expanded set of leaderboards atached. Lets get those All Star ballots in this weekend!
We'll send Pina down before he hits 125%. Dick Hughes can take his place.
--With 5 of 12 owners having cast their ballots four teams are in danger of not having an All Star rep. For the Diablos Pete Rose has been on one ballot as a 2nd teamer at 2B and Joe Hoerner one vote at RP. I'd recommend Hoerner, who has a strong case on actual merit (8-5, 11 saves, 2.17). The Gamblers have only one player who has received a vote - Pete Ward who is running 2nd at 3B. The Badger have LFer Cleon Jones with one 2nd place vote in LF and SP Woody Fryman with one 8th place vote. The surprise of this group is the first place Hard Cider. Dick Allen is in 3rd place in RF (4 of 5 have named him as a wild card). Tom Haller is the only other Macman with a vote - a third team vote at C. If its any consulation Mac, the Knights had only one All Star last year and went on to win the championship.

--The All Star break is a great opportunity to address any pitching issues you may have. If you've got a starter with usage issues you can push him back in the rotation. If you got a guy you want to get an extra start you can move him up. If you want to switch a guy from the rotation to the pen you can. With the 3 days off only the guy who started your last game won't be a full rest for the first game after. And even he could start if he waas a workhorse type in real life.
I need to make some roster changes.
I'm calling Don Cardwell back into the rotation, and sending down... Stan Williams. Although Williams has been great for us, his usage is getting to be a bit high, and I want to save him for later in the season in case we miraculously get close to contention again. I want Merritt to be in the fifth starter's slot, on skip, and I'll move Cardwell up into the number 1 starter's slot, shift everyone else down one.
Did I call Gonzalez back up for Cline? If not, I'm doing it now.
I'm sending down George Stone, and calling up Eddie Fisher in his place. My bullpen rotation should now look like:
Spot Starter: Dobson, Wood
Mopup: Wood, Dobson
Long man: Wood, Dobson
LH set up: Wood, Fisher
RH set up: Dobson, Brewer
LH closer: Brewer, Hoerner
RH closer: Fisher, Hoerner

September 16, 2012: The Losing Streak Ends
--Nobody comin up for Nelson?
--Satriano of the Hornets and Moose of the Hard Cider are eligible to come off the DL
--The Diablos, Skipjacks and Gamblers all have only 24 active players.
--The Gamblers also have Jim Kaat out for a month, but still on the actove roster reducing their effective strength to 23.
--The majority of the teams will be sending their 4th starter out when we resume play tonight unless they adjust their rotation. The Skipjacks, Joes and Legends are on thier #1 starter and the Gold Sox on #5.
Thanks for the info, Mark. I was going to tell you to reset to my #1, but since it appears Jenkins is already going, I'll leave it alone. Sure hope these guys (especially Seaver) come around the second half!
You see, you spend a good deal of your life gripping a baseball and in the end it turns out that it was the other way around all the time. J. Bouton

"A ballplayer has to just go out and be mean. You can't play half-heartedly. If you do, there's someone right over your shoulder that'll take your job away. If you don't do your job, what they're paying you for, why should they pay you? You just can't put in eight hours, that's what a lot of people don't realize about athletes. Very few people realize the pressure." Dave Kingman
We'll bring Moose up and send Nyman down.
New pitching assignments:
Pitching

LH set up: Walker, Holtzman
RH set up: Hughes, Fisher
LH closer: Hamilton, Walker
RH closer: McMahon, Hamilton
--The Legends Express starts the second half with a battering of the slumping Shoeless Joes. The Legends now lead the division by a dozen and are a half dozen games up on the Knights for best overall record. The Joes OTOH are down to .500 and their promising start appears to be going up in smoke.
Any way to see the boxscores right now?
