1927 Pacific Coast League Pennant Winning "Oaks" Banquet
Given By Oakland Baseball Assn. - Elks Club Oakland, CA - October 3, 1927
I've had this panoramic in my "to be edited" folder for the longest time. So I finally spruced it up a bit this morning. I'm not sure why there's a "CHAMPIONS 1928" pennant flag at the head table, maybe it's to represent the goal for the season to come. Here's the stat page for the team: 1927 Oakland Oaks Team Stats. Cheers! ~B

An Old Mystery Solved...
1934 Chicago Cubs Spring Training - Catalina Island
Almost exactly one year ago, I posted a pic that was undated but thought to be the 1933 Cubs. See here: Post #1072 - 1933 Chicago Cubs Team. I've now found another picture that was snapped a few moments before/after the original post...and it had the original backing tag! So for the record, it's from the Cubs March 1934 Spring Training on Catalina Island. The players have moved around a bit in the new pic, but the people in the stands are basically the same. The other mystery solved is the ID of Philip K. Wrigley seated in the center, 2nd row (which seems to be the point of interest for the photo). Cheers! ~B

Something struck my attention to the above photo. Fourth row, right between Guy Bush and Chuck Klein, "Pete" Alexander was in uniform. Spring Training instructor?
Exactly, he was there to instruct and pitch batting practice. Here's the two pic's side-by-side:
