A batting practice lob:
Who is the only Met to hit 30 or more homers while acquiring fewer strikeouts than walks? (Extra credit for the year and numbers.)
Put it in the books.
That would be Gary Carter in 1985. He hit 30 Home runs while striking out 46 times and walking 69 times.
You must pick battles that are small enough to win, but large enough to matter
here's one.....Who was the first mets catcher to throw out Vince Coleman stealing....and what year was it? (bonus points for date)

First,I just wanna say great job by NJMetfan4life for getting the trivia question right.Second, milladrive,my friend I apologize for not responding to
this sooner but to answer your question I would have found the answer by going to Ultimate Mets Database and then clicking on interactive
statistics and then clicking on home runs in a season and then going through the list of everybody who hit 30 or more home runs in a season and
I would have found out that Gary Carter walked more times than he struck out during that season.
Now,has anyone got an answer on my trivia question where a player actually played for the 1985 Mets and 1987 Mets when the Cardinals were in
the World Series and played for the 1986 Cardinals when the Mets were in the World Series.I know it's not the hardest trivia question in the world
but at least there would be a reaction that makes you say:Oh wow, really,is that true? That's interesting.Or words to that effect.Anyway, let's see
what you guys can do with this trivia question and can come up with the answer for me.

As we know, Jose Reyes turned 27 years old on June 11. He first debuted with the Mets on June 10, 2003, playing one game in the Majors at age 19.
Question: Who, besides Reyes, are the only other players on that June 10, 2003, Mets roster still actively playing today in the Major Leagues?
Put it in the books.
i'm 95% sure you're right.....which really shows how truly pathetic that 2003 team was....only 7 years ago and only 3 players are even still in the league.
I remember the 1993 team very well and I know they lost 103 games (though their expected win-loss record hinted at some bad luck)....but for just pure terrible baseball, that 2003 team may have been the worst in my lifetime. Just AWFUL, maybe the most talentless team i've ever seen.

Excellent, NJM. Only thing is, Scutaro was not on the June 10 roster. He was actually sent down to make room for Reyes, then was called back up in late July. But I've gotta tip my cap to you and give you due credit.
And for the record, I totally agree with m8644.

Who are the only players to play 150 or more games for the Mets in their rookie year?
Put it in the books.
The answer is Lee Mazzilli in 1977 with 159 and Rey Ordonez in 1996 with 151.
There were some other close calls but unfortunately close is no cigar.According to major league baseball rules you are considered to have your
rookie year if you have at least 130 at bats or at least 50 innings pitched or you were on a major league roster for at least 45 days.
In 1966 Bud Harrelson did not get at least 130 at bats but he was on a major league roster for 50 days so therefore 1966 is considered his rookie
year as he played in 151 games in 1967.Ty Wigginton played in 46 games in 2002 so that was his rookie year as he played in 156 games in 2003.
Daniel Murphy played in 49 games and had 131 at bats in 2008 so that was his rookie year as he played in 155 games in 2009.
And for the record I totally agree with m8644 and yourself about the 2003 season being the worst ever at least for me and naturally for you guys
and I am sure for a lot of other people. My record in going to Mets games that year was 4-17.And 1 of my 4 wins I got a program signed by all of
the 1973 Mets with the exception of John Milner stolen during that game so I couldn't even enjoy that win.It was on Old Timer's Day with the theme
of the 30-year anniversary of the 1973 Mets and thankfully I do have one program signed by all of the 1973 Mets with the exception of John Milner
that I have at home to this day that I didn't bring to this game because I didn't need to because everybody signed it but John Milner who is dead.
But I had a second program signed by all of the 1973 Mets except for John Milner and George Theodore so I specifically concentrated on seeing
George Theodore and once I saw him I was going right to him.I needed Theodore on this second program as he was supposed to do a 1973 Mets
show in November 1995 but he cancelled and he never did an appearance that I know of in the tri-state area since he was at the Old Timer's Day
with the theme of the 20-year anniversary of the 1973 Mets in 1993.So once I saw Theodore I went right up to him and I got his autograph on my
program. It took me 10 years to get him to sign that program. An hour later the program was stolen. For various reasons as time went on I am
working on 2 other pieces that I am trying to get the 1973 Mets to sign. But I have to settle for getting those pieces signed obviously without John
Milner and also without Tug McGraw and Jim Beauchamp and Roy McMillian who are now deceased. The only guys I need on these two pieces who
are still alive are George Stone,Ray Sadecki,Teddy Martinez, and Willie Mays.Mays's autograph at shows are ridiculously expensive at $300 apiece so
I never seem to have the money when he does a show and I need him twice.Oh well, maybe, someday.I have got Mays's autograph before including
on one 1973 Mets program I still have that I got everybody to sign except for John Milner. But Mays' autograph was a lot cheaper back then.In 1987,
it was as a low as $8 at a show. And thankfully,George Theodore has done several appearances in the tri-state area himself since then so I got him
on these two other items. And thankfully I still have one 1973 Mets program that everybody signed except for John Milner. My most enjoyable win that
year was my one win with my friend milladrive that year as we went to three games together and went 1-2 in those games. That was on Tuesday
May 6 when the Mets beat the Dodgers 3-2 as it was my most enjoyable win that year because it was my one win with my friend milladrive that year.

Extremely close, Joe. So close that I'll give it to you since you mentioned him in your post.
You got Mazzilli and Ordoņez.
However, Wigginton is indeed also on this list. In 2002, the days he was on the the roster included two doubleheaders, thus a total of only 44 days. If you'll check, 2003 is officially considered his rookie year, the year he finished 8th in the RoY voting.
Put it in the books.
Ya know, the more I think about it, it's pretty difficult to get one by you, Joe. So, I'm considering the above question as finally "stumping the band."![]()
Put it in the books.
On June 16, 2010, the Mets strung together four consecutive doubles against the Indians, tying a National League record.
The Mets had previously in their history accomplished the feat of four consecutive doubles. What was the date?
(Extra credit for the players who hit them, the opposing team, the pitcher they hit them off, the outcome of the game, etc.)
