I'm guessing Gary was able to get these shots because he was at The Joel Osteen Ministries event yesterday at NYS...correct?

Where does the red come from, then?

Its makes the logo stand out more with the aqua blue. If you are going to ask where the blue comes from, you must ask where the red comes from!! Red is not part of the Yankee colors, is it?

While red is not part of the Yankee uniform today, they did use it as a secondary color in their team jackets in the 40's & 50's, which is around the same timeframe that the top-hat logo came into existance.
Also, a "YANKEE" is a northerner, (an American) ..... thus red, white & blue.

    Quick history lesson:
The top hat logo was created by Henry Alonzo Keller, an artist.
According to his New York Times obituary from 1995:

"Mr. Keller, who was known as Lon, created the Yankee emblem just after World War II, when the Yankees and other teams began to rely more on advertising to lure a prosperous public suddenly free of the hardships of war. The emblem first appeared on the 1947 spring training roster and was on the cover of the World Series program that year, when the Yankees met the Brooklyn Dodgers".

Tribute to Stadium & Babe Ruth - Event at Foley's

As previously mentioned here, this event will take place at Foley's (18 W. 33rd St. in NY) starting at 11 AM on Monday, 4/27. Mark Healey will be broadcasting his “Baseball Digest LIVE” Internet Radio show from 11 AM to 1 PM. The links below provides information about the show.

    http://baseballdigest.com/featured/2...live-the-babe/

    http://www.blogtalkradio.com/station...ll-Digest-Live

I will be there and will discuss our "Save the Yankee Gate 2" proposal with Mark Healey for a few minutes, although the main theme of the show will be the tribute to Yankee Stadium's 86 years and performance of songs dedicated to the Babe. His granddaughter, Linda Trosetti will be there.

Looking forward to this event and hope to see some of you there.

    Regards,
    Mark

Has anyone heard any updates on the stadium seat sell? They had a release over a month ago about a deal being struck and that was the last we heard.

Nope. Not a peep. I would have thought SOMETHING would have been announced by NOW .... but still nothing. My guess is the City & the Yankees must STILL not have a deal on their cut(s) for the sale of the contents/fixtures in the Old Stadium that the City owns. I heard that the demo is supposed to start in June, so if that is accurate, they have just about a month left to remove everything before the actual demo begins. Time's awastin'..........

Well the demolition starting June could include the removing of the seats and memorabilia..

I called up Steiner and they still didn't know (or cared to share) anything

The seats would need to be out of there before June, if that is when the 'official' demolition is to commence.
My guess is that June is not written in stone anyway, though ... so this might carry on for a bit longer.

They may have to slowly remove hazardous material first, such as asbestos. They may not be allowed to have people around the work area to do this at the same time they remove seats and stuff.

    Just a thought.

at the game last night they had a pic of george in one of those jackets accepting the 2000 WS trophy. Below is a partial pic:

......On Thursday morning while driving up River Ave, construction crews were placing those 3 ft tall angled concrete higway dividers in the middle of the Yankee Stadium River Ave sidewalk. They are approx 12 ft long and ,by now, you probably cant approach the outside Stadium wall on River..........

I walked around the old Stadium after I left the Yankee game and was able to take one last "tour".... I assume by the time my next game, Jun. 14 vs. the Mets, it will have a fence around it so nobody can access it. I did manage to get some shots and they look a little eerie to me, because it is all closed down, abandoned in a sense while right across the street the new place is light up and noisy. Anyways here's some shots I got..

    promo schedule from last year:

Even as a Mets fan, I have to admit I got a little choked up looking at this place. Love the Yankees or hate them, this place created memories that will be etched into baseball and New York City.

Does anyone know where I can find that jacket? I know they sell the M&N ones for like $400 but I like the "retro" satin one just the same.

Kind of random but I found this on google and thought it was cool, any idea when it's from?

  24. #1324
Have to say very late 80's like 1989... The early 90's had different ads like Burger King in LF and Bon Ton in RF.
