Thanks DrBear. I must have had my head up my arse. I didn't even notice the 3rd intity, what you refer to as the JFK Stadium. For some reason I seen it as JFK and the Spectrum as being one item. I appreciate you setting me straight on that one.

I think I posted these two in a previous post, but here ya go:

Thanks jwilt, thanks for the Philly link too. That would be that area about the time I was born ('56) or just before. Mario, killer great shot as usual. How do you do it????? I love looking at a photo of an area before the ballpark existed, wondering what the area was like. Did anyone ever dream there would be such a place as we know now, there in the future. Philly is a big city and it looked about like what a Denver does now, back then . . . amazing. I guess ole Connie Mack was up north of this area? I recollect looking on a map for CM before my wife and I drove home to Colo from NYC and I think it was north. We didn't get a chance to stop there or the new venues that day (drats) but was able to see them from the highway.
This one should be easy, we'd be looking a little down the river from that cookie cutter stadium.

A cursory web search got me a couple from pre-Three Rivers days...

Can't find any of the Metrodomes site prior to construction.

I can't either??? GoogleEarth would only take me back to April 1991 and the Dome is there. Perhaps somebody knows of a better historical aerial viewing method?
OK, humor me, ha! For the life of me, I can't figure out which ballpark your referring to here.
I agree, I was surprised to see how little of down SD, Petco took up. Does put one in mind of the Target Field location.
Kind of hookie, but this is the best I could do with GoogleEarth for Chase Field, 1992 view & 2009 view.
The long building in the background should give this one away.

The only photo I have ever been able to find of Shibe Park ( Connie Mack Stadium ) prior to construction.
Pic is from 1907/08. Shibe opened in 1909 as the first Steel and Concrete stadium in the country.
Located at 21st and Lehigh , that part of Philly was rural as can be seen in the background.

Great photo ConnieMack! Rural indeed. Very rare image I'm thinking as well. Hard to imagine that was the area just over 100 years ago. I was googling the area tonight and seen it is only about 5 miles north of Geno's & Pat's Philly Steak sandwhich joints down on south 9th. Another goal of mine, to see a game at the Phillies new park, tour around old Connie Mack/Shibe Field site and make a P.I.G. hog of myself at Geno's and Pat's (not on the same day of course). Got to see which is best ;-)

Here is an ariel shot of the Dallas/Fort Worth Turnpike shortly after construction in the late 50's.
Noted are some landmarks that are still there.

Cincinnati. The spot where Riverfront Stadium once stood and now GABP.

Toronto, during construction of CN Tower:
SkyDome built immediately left to the tower in this picture.
Using a stolen chant from Boston Celtics fans whenever an L.A. team is playing up there just reeks of inferiority complex.

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
