i play secon base for my babe ruth team. i'm not that bad at fielding but when it comes to throw out a runner at home i have a hard time makin the throw. although i can make the throw to any other base its just when a runner runs twoards home i cant make the throw.
any suggestions on how to make my throw stronger?
Perhaps there's something wrong with your mechanics. For arm strength, long toss really helps.
As billybob mentioned, long toss can help strengthen your arm. However, I would key more on total body fitness and not just long toss. Start focus on strengthening your legs as well as they help you throw the ball harder and farther. Another tool that can help strengthen just your arm is the use of a piece of elastic to stretch your arm out. If you cannot locate one, you can find them at most baseball sporting goods stores online. These will help strengthen all the muscles in your arm.
One other area to explore is to see if part of the problem is you get nervous when you see the runner running home and this causes you to abandon the mechanics you use when throwing to the other bases. Based on what you said, this may or may not be the issue.
Hope this helps,
