Personally, I don't consider other contributions much. If I think a guy is borderline for a yes or no, it can come into play, but I definitely tend to go with what they did as players. Player/managers are tough because they had a merged role, and it isn't always easy separating the two. Those guys are likely to get a boost if they had success as the titular head of the team.
