    World Series '57 song

Here is a link to John MCutcheon's song "World Series '57" about the Braves winning the World Series in 1957.

    I need your help.....

I would like to make a nice video of the song and I am in the process of gathering photos of the team. What I need help on is photos of anything to do with that Series...

    1) Players
    2) Scoreboard
    3) County Stadium
    4) Newspaper clippings
    5) VIDEOS can anyone help here!!!!

I have amassed about 50-60 so far but looking for more....

Here are the words to the song as a reference..

It was cool in October the year I turned five
The wind off the Lake made you feel so alive
Oh, the Yankees were coming like a force out of heaven
For the World Series in '57
There was Spahnie and Red, Johnny Logan and Lew
Pafko, Wes, Felix, and Joe Adcock, too
There was Henry and Eddie and my hero, Del
Right there on the TV I remember it well

    Chorus

    It's the Star Spangled Banner
At the top of your lungs
Take me out to the ballgame
    Like when we were young
    I'll remember each play
To the end of my days
In the land of the free
And the home of the Braves

Though we took it in seven it was all for the show
We were toying with Casey and a good chance of snow
For fans in Wisconsin are tough women and men
And it's warmed all our hearts each October since then Chorus

    Bridge

When a town loved a team
And a team loved a town
And you cheered for your heroes
    Even when they were down
    The crack of the bat
    The jump of the ball
    The roar of the crowd
As it cleared the far wall

So now every autumn I gather my kids
And I tell them about the Brave deeds that we did
My Dad and the TV trays out in the den
And I feel like I'm five in the Series again

    It's the Star Spangled Banner
At the top of your lungs
Take me out to the ballgame
    Like when we were young
    I'll remember each play
To the end of my days
    Oh, say can you see
    My old man and me
In the land of the free
And the home of the Braves

Thank you inadvance for everyone's help. Please link here if you have anything that can be added...

Nice idea. I love that song. Of course you'll want pics of each of the named players. Then I'd look for images to represent the setting ("cool in October," "wind off the lake") and the narrator as a little kid and then as an older man ("gather my kids," "end of my days").

Can anyone give me a tip on how to upload video clips from a (non-copy-protected) DVD?

If you don't already have them, there are a couple of nice pics of the scoreboard and the fans in Milwaukee during that Series in the Classic Milwaukee Braves Photos thread. Six4Three has posted a ton of great stuff there.

                    Aw, shucks.

Here's the post he was talking about - you can get to the larger pics on Flickr from there. They're copyrighted, though - you might wish to shoot the owner an email.

I'd be very wary about going too literal with your images - try to capture the spirit of the lyrics rather than using them as a direct blueprint. If you can use the images of fans, I'd lean pretty heavily on those - the song's about the spirit of fans, not the players themselves.

Well... I'd say the main theme is memory.

That is, it's not so much about Milwaukee fans in 1957, it's about remembering "when we were young." I think a cascade of brief images of ballplayers from fifty years past--young men then, mostly gone now, the photos in B&W or those slightly-off colors--could be very evocative indeed of the sense of looking back.

You can work this effect for images of the protagonist, as well--an old-looking image of a '50s kid followed by the newer-looking image of the older man.

Thanks everyone for the links and ideas....almost done...it takes a while...over 80 photos with more than a minute left of the song....

Photos of the players as been the easiest, even plays of the game..but the concepts have been the hardest..."crack of the ball, jump of the ball"

I did find some nice images of John himself...
