That is one really neat looking ballpark! Can't wait to see it in person.

I've wondered that myself - it'd be a lot of painting though with all the different surfaces you'd end up having to paint, the cost as you said probably ends up going way up to where it's not worth it is my guess?
Agreed! When I was there in November, they were still bare concrete, but I love what they did with the floors......not sure if you noticed, but they also echo the "zone" color scheme - the home plate area had blue accents in the floor, 1st baseline had yellow accents, 3rd baseline had red accents, and I assume the outfield has green accents (didn't see a picture, but it's logical to assume it does).
The row end logos for non-premium seats seem to be like that too:

Good for them!
IMHO, they should take it out, put a water tank in its place, with real marlins in it. That's what I thought that thing was going to be anyway!
As for the construction: The bullpen walls will actually be, you know, walls, won't they? Look in left and center outfield between the two scoreboards. You'll notice that there's only a small section of wall up there, the rest is just 'frames'. That's eventually going to be covered, isn't it?

I think that's the wall. Its see through similar to what you see at US Cellular in spots

You'd hope that there would be a stadium seat made or installed that allowed better air flow / cooling. Look at those solid plastic seats. Fans will have soaked backs of their shirts and seats sitting there. AC on and all, still just a sweatbox.
I'd take a classic wood slat seat on a summer day any day of the week. Why can't they design a plastic slat seat with curves already? Or even a more mesh like surface.

I know Camden Yards has slat looking seats, but there's still a lot of plastic against your back.

Lets get some wicker already!

I don't know why but this one had me laughing like crazy.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.

Shocker.
It's kind of embarassing. Should've been outside somewhere, not in the park's sightlines. And I can see how it being so "busy" can affect a hitter's view. The FanFest photos really show how glaring that thing is. And $2-$5M for something that will mostly be stationary?![]()

Yeah, a real marlin would not fit there at all - I, however would've had an animatronic marlin that would pop up out of "water" and flip around and retract back to the water (like the apple as others have said), but that's me.
No those are the final outfield walls, there's mesh/fencing in between those frames, it's not open/nothing.
Yeah, you couldn't fit a real marlin there anyway.
sorry, double post.
That was actually the original plan. You can see something like that if you look real closely at this early rendering:

OOps. Duplicate post...
I know that earlier in this thread i said that i liked the home run sculpture, i must have been in a really good mood that day, but i am gonna retract it now that i see it from far away. it sticks out worse than a sore thumb. i wonder why they didnt just go with the early rendering posted by StadiumPage. it looks way better.
Was this actually proposed? It looks unique, but I don't know if this would be a good idea unless you have the roof closed. Where did you see this and is this something the Panthers are considering?
Next question: What is that area directly below the MARLINS PARK sign? It looks like another sign or board is supposed to go there. What is it?
I know it's not the out-of-town scoreboard (i.e. like the one at Citi), 'cuz that's down on the field.

I see great things in baseball. It's our game - the American game.

I think someone threw the idea (outdoor hockey in south Florida) out there after they hosted it in Citizens Bank Park this year, and how the air could be turned way down to freeze the ice rink and then opened the day of or something, but I don't know if it's an actual proposal/something they're looking into.
I believe it's going to be illuminated advertising boards or something, I think the same might go for the areas around the left field ribbon board above the Marlins' bullpen that currently look unfinished.
I could've told you it was too bright after seeing the renderings - more of an issue in the daytime with the roof open than any other time I'm sure. I wonder if the padding for the wall on the field in that area will be changed as well?
