[QUOTE=NickEsasky;1969781]Am I alone in being underwhelmed by the scoreboard at this stadium? Considering all the scoreboards that have been upgraded around the league in the last couple years (Comerica and GABP come to mind), I would have expected more here.
I'm only going by my glance at the renderings, so i could be way off
but this thing doesn't look outstanding.

    same here,
but daktronic says it the BEST and most up to date scoreboard system in mlb
the main board in RF is listed as 101ft wide by 51ft tall
    http://files.shareholder.com/downloa...18_General.pdf
    http://www.soflamarlins.com/showthread.php?t=2211

don't know if that is the measurements for the WHOLE board
as I see 2 backing or holding boards behind the video screen,

or just the size of the videoboard
similar to the original shea stadium board

Hey guys its been a long time since i posted im usually on the citi field page but i just wanna say im really excited for this stadium to be opened altough im a mets fan and i know my eart is going to be broken many times in this building. I really see this as being a second home for me. My father recently bought a house 10 minutes from this beautiful ball park and its going to be interesting to see some different designs other than citi field. Sadly i never got the chance to go to dolphins stadium to compare to but its looks geogous and i see this as a place i will be going to for many years to come with my dad and hopefully my future kids to root for our mets. Yes its going to hurt to watch my beloved Jose wearing orange for another team this looks like a place i could be welcome have fun and enjoy baseball in soe beaituful weather. I hope all you marlin fans realize how lucky you are not only beacuase you stole one of the best players in the game away from many devoted met fans but that you have a place to watch baseball through any weather (except hurricanes). After being dissapointed a handful of times with the problems at citi field i wish you guys dont have to go through. Good luck to you guys ill be the one there wearing my Reyes jersey pretending hes still a Metopolitain.

Thanks, it's nice to hear good things about the park from a New Yorker. We certainly know how lucky we are, since the consequences of not getting it done would without a doubt have been the San Antonio or Portland Marlins. And there's always Dolphins games at the Dolph! I hear tickets are usually available to watch those losers too.

As for the park, the grass isn't in yet, but the weather is nice enough that they don't need to worry about the grass taking root in the winter. It's comfortably in the mid-to-high-70s in the daytime this time of year down here. The concourses look good to go, and once the grass is in, the place will really start looking good. I estimate 2 weeks till grass time

Check out the outfield wall round the home run feature and the wall's scoreboard. I wonder what the ground rules will be for balls hit above the score board but below the home run feature water retaining wall in that small around where the scoreboard is flush against the feature's wall (just where the score board ends. Good thing we have the home run replay rules because there are some tight areas around that part of the wall.

Good question, I never noticed that area was that way until now.

We were going off topic again. I just deleted five off-topic posts. Let's keep this thread about nothing but the construction of the Marlins' new ballpark.
    Put it in the books.

I think its a given that a ball over the wall is a home run, so it may get very interesting when a ball hits that concrete that butts almost up against the wall. Is that wall really gonna be ORANGE? I like the overall design of the stadium, and i like the new colorful "M" logo, but i dont like the stadium being painted clown colors.

That's not an orange wall. More likely it's one of the video displays (the out of town scoreboard maybe?) which is showing a solid color as a test pattern.

(I just checked the interior webcam. That same area is not showing that color anymore. I think they've turned off the test pattern.)

Do you think they will do what the mets do with the hr apple hat?
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.

Want a multi-million dollar contract to clean the new ballpark? You'll need to have experience cleaning ballparks, and you'll have to purchase a $150,000 suite...

Seems ridiculous. But, in fairness to the Marlins I think this is a common practice amongst pro sports franchises. Back in the day before I moved to South Florida, I once worked for a large public accounting firm (not in Miami), and one of their clients was an NFL franchise (not the Dolphins). The team was not a major client to the firm in terms of revenue compared to other companies in their portfolio, but it was a feather in their proverbial cap because of brand recognition. One of the requirements for retaining them as a client was to purchase a luxury box at the stadium. Later in my career I saw this with other professional franchises in other cities too (one was MLB...again not in Miami).

Its really unfair because you're basically getting the service at a discount because the service provider is turning around and buying the team's product. The confusing thing in this instance is that the Marlins supposedly had sold out a lot of their premium seating. Maybe the boxes weren't one of those things.

The orange area in question IS (will be) the out of town scoreboard.

Looks like the padding was added to the wall to the right of the HR thing. Odd corner they built too.

If you're judging off the photo StadiumPage posted, that is dirt in a raised area just to the right of the HR thing. Look at the picture above posted by Nick Esasky and you'll see the wall is still concrete.

Thanks. The roof looked like padding in the one picture.

I love the location of the bullpens. Not hidden, nor takes away great seats. Can't wait to see this place when it opens.

It's interesting how the size of the ballpark affects the impression of a "monster" wall. At Fenway Park, which is tiny by the standards of today's stadiums, the Green Monster looks like a MONSTER, totally dominating the field. I've been to many games at Joe Robbie/Pro Player/Dolphin/Landshark/Sun Life, and even though the left field wall was high, it always seemed to me that unless you were looking at it from field level, it was phony and contrived - like a cheap barricade that was put up just to make home runs a little harder to hit. And, in fact, that's just what it was.

Don't forget that the Teal Tower/Teal Monster was only 26 feet high at its highest point, and probably only 22 feet high at its lowest. In contrast, the Green Monster is 37 feet high. So obviously the Green Monster was far more impressive.

Just read an article on the Marlin's website which describes the type of grass that they will be installing in the new park (celebration bermuda grass i believe it was called), the grass will be going down sometime in February, here is the link to the article:
