He must have been pretty nimble for a guy who weighed over 3/4 of a ton, he stole 17 bases in 1886.
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. ~Rogers Hornsby

  5. Seems like a typo. If you look at the other page on baseball-reference it lists him at 165

I've heard of the great gatsby, and now I've heard of the
    GREAT Goldsby
Mythical SF Chronicle scouting report: "That Jeff runs like a deer. Unfortunately, he also hits AND throws like one." I am Venus DeMilo - NO ARM! I can play like a big leaguer, I can field like Luzinski, run like Lombardi. The secret to managing is keeping the ones who hate you away from the undecided ones. I am a triumph of quantity over quality. I'm almost useful, every village needs an idiot.

  12. I think that has to be a typo.

    Sadly, from Baseball library.com:
Jan 11, 1914 - Former 19th century major leaguer Walt Goldsby commits suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At his heaviest, Walter Young (2005 Orioles) was actually listed at 322 lbs.

Calvin Pickering was reportedly up around there at one point too, though he was always generously listed at 275-280.

I wonder how much C.C. Sabathia actually weighs?

  21. 1. Walter Young, 6’5”, 322 lbs.
    2. Jumbo Brown, 6’4”, 295
    3. Calvin Pickering, 6’5”, 275
    4. Andrew Sisco, 6’10”, 270
    5. Bobby Jenks, 6’3”, 270
    6. Jeff Juden, 6’8”, 270
    7. Prince Fielder, 6’0”, 265
    8. Joey Meyer, 6’3”, 260
    9. Garland Buckeye, 6’0”, 260
    10. Steve Rain, 6’6”, 260

According to Baseball Reference, Sabathia is six feet seven inches tall and weighs 250 pounds. Lmao hes probably around 270-280. I wonder is fielder is more.

Sabahtia weighs much more than 270-280 lbs. ESPN Baseball,Yahoo! Sports, and MLB.com all list him at 290 lbs. That means he probably weighs more than that.

Interestingly, the spoilsport did it before this thread was started. It was our own Colin Wyers, who informed Sean on the Baseball Databank group on Yahoo on Nov. 22. He must have seen this thread, then gone back in time to write on the BBDB group page. He's not just a spoilsport, he's a time-traveling spoilsport! Aaahhhh!
