Hey can anyone give me some good web sites for Red Sox and baseball news etc other than the standard mlb.com, usatoday and fox sports sites ????

living in Australia I need to get all my baseball news from the net rather than rely on any of the local media outlets...any good info would be great..

    P.S

My first stop in the morning is always www.boston.com/sports/redsox -- they have good coverage, though you'll have to put up with Shaughnessy's sarcastic bellyaching and lots of gloom and doom stuff. They have a service you can subscribe to that gives you email game recaps, live chats, Q&A with the writers, etc. There's also www.bostonherald.com and www.projo.com. You might try www.newredsox.com , although I find their editorializing only slightly less nauseating than that on boston.com. There's also www.redsoxdiehard.com, which isn't news, but is full of stories and fan lore ("You know you're a diehard when..." goes on for PAGES). There's also www.theremyreport.com, which is fun to check out.

    Hope this helps!

Sorry for just noticing this. Either case, I'd swiped this from Biggerin (among other things, such as a hat I've swiped), in that in a "discussion" on the Yanks, Biggerin said that Clemens would never win #300 at Evil Empire Headquarters. I couldn't let that one go unused.

Back on topic, Sporting News has changed its online format, and I can't even figure out where their printed articles are linked. However, here's their new BoSox page, as done by Fox Sports:

    From a thread about Fenway's 92nd b-day, I posted the following:

    redsox.com:

    A History of Fenway Park

Fenway Park: Home of the Red Sox

    Boston Globe:

The Sox' long history -- Here are some monster numbers

    Independent (they all seem credible):

    Fenway Facts
It's in the Fenway section (of Boston), isn't it? Then call it Fenway Park.

The Fenway Park Homepage (independent, as mentioned earlier)

I've heard that's their policy the past 2 years, and that you must be recommended by a member in good standing to become a new member.

PM me if you'd like to discuss this though.

    Yet another one

I have come across this site -- not news and notes, but essays and opinion:

    http://www.bartlettpark.com

It's well worth a look, especially the articles by A. Knoefel Longest. I found it through www.theremyreport.com , which is amusing, too.

Article stated that Nomar was on the juice and wouldn't accept a World Series ring. I love the Sox more than I love Nomar, but he's a good guy and his reputation shouldn't be tarnished by having his masculinity challenged by calling him "Mr. Hamm".

Silva, the blogger for bostondirtdogs, in my opinion, is lewd, politically partisan, and now inaccurate. I love baseball humor, even if it's considered distasteful. But with his legitmacy having been acquired by the Boston Herald, he I agree with the posted article that there be some standards of professionalism followed by legitimate reporters.

I gave up on bostondirtdogs a LONG time ago. Bitter, sarcastic, angry, inciteful, even hateful writing bout the team they profess to support? No thanks. They make Shaughnessy sound like Pollyanna. It's enough to gag a goat.

  24. I've to say Boston has the most fansites out there, out of 35% of people I swapped links with, they're Red Sox affiliated.
