Can't say how annoying it was to see the Yanks Museum on their pre-game show today.
Well thought out and clearly as big a priority with them as it was at getting the rest of the stadium ready for opening day.
As much as I can't stand them, you have to give them their due, they get it:
baseball is a generational sport
it's all about heritage and history, (especially team history)
and the memories that go with them.
It's the ties that binds.
What do we get?
A collective pat on the head with a "there, there kids, Santa will bring you a Mets Museum soon, if you're good boys and girls."
Since it was made official at yesterday's JR-Day press conference,
that a formal exhibit at CF acknowledging 47 years of Mets history and fan loyalty
is at best "still in the works" and that it'll be "somewhere behind Centerfield",
we now know how much of a priority celebrating Mets (and METS ONLY) history is for ownership.
I suspected as much when they canceled Oldtimer's games a while back.
That pales by comparison.
They could have given us old farts a bone, with a SHEA CLUB or a PAYSON PORCH,
but no, CF is a trip down ownership's personal memory lane.
Screw the trust and responsibility you have as owners of the NY METS and their fans.
"It's my toy, I paid for it, if I want to hang up something from my past over this team's, that's how it goes."
"Hmmm, Whiffleball field, Ebbets Club or Mets Hall Of Fame?"
"Get that wiffleball field and Ebbets done asap, we'll figure out the METS HOF later."
In the meantime, you could have given us one bone, chief:
Oh the pain.
