Oh boy, this should be fun. The Joe Sixpacks of Yankee fandom are a pretty rough bunch, tune in to the FAN folks.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Jackie Robinson never played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and was never cheered on by people in L.A. , a Jackie Robinson Rotunda at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles would be ridiculous...People in L.A. would be honoring a New York icon.

Unfortunately Jackie's team doesn't exist anymore, but he did play in New York, and he played in the national league, and made history in doing so.

Currently there is a New York team in the national league and that's the Mets, and it is only right they honor him.

And please don't get into the they don't honor the Giants....the NY emblem is honor enough, and quite frankly if Willie Mays broke the color line then it would be the Willie Mays Rotunda....
The debate about the Ebbets Club and JRR tend to get caught up together when they are two separate things.

Speaking for myself, God bless Jackie Robinson and the Rotunda.
I think it's actually very cool to honor such an important NY figure.
I have no qualms whatsoever with the JRR.
I still feel the park should be called Robinson Field.

The Ebbets Club issue is an entirely different matter.
Ownership opted to recognize another team's park in this park.
Historically speaking, Ebbets Field had ZERO to do with the METS.
I've said before that if this was an attempt to honor NY baseball in general, then where is the Shea Club and PG Club?

    No Mets Museum.
    No Mets Hall of Fame.
    No Mets Statues.
    Nada.
But naming something Ebbets and having a huge picture of it in the Field Concourse was pretty important to ownership
because they made sure that happened in time for opening day.

    That's the issue.

Just noticed another thing guys, this weekends game against the Brewers were going for like $30 on stubhub on average in the prom boxes, once the wave of people came in and jumped into started buying, the lowest is now $53, with all the most recent purchases being in the 50s and 60s. Wow, so lesson for all of his selling this year especially with weekends, just wait it out possibly and get rewarded 3 days before the game. Currently on stubhub 2 days before the game lowest ticket in

    Prom box is 53
    prom IF is 44
    prom OF is 54

Looks like the future could be bright for resale, if you have the patience for those high demand weekend games.

Any baseball-fever people looking for Mets tickets for single dates or a small package for face value for next year, as I will not be able to make all 81 games, send me a PM and we can work something out.

If you criticize the J.R. Rotunda then you don't get it and maybe you should look up baseball and American history. The meaning is bigger than the Mets and the Dodgers will ever be.

Who cares about the names of the clubs and levels. The color of the walls and seats. Why does that matter? The seats could be red and I wouldn't care.

I go to the ballpark for the game to create my own memories, not a history lesson. If you care about your team, you know their history. It's about the product on the field.

Did the Mets screw up with the lack of a Mets Museum and such, of course, but do we need to be this vile and upset about it. Yeah, and most likely due to fan reaction, the Mets are saying one is coming, but why is this such a big deal.

Would I like to see a Seaver statue in the Mets plaza? Yeah I would. I would also like to see the Mets retire a few more numbers, but they don't. It's not something I'm going to get that worked up about.

Give the Mets a chance. This place isn't going to feel like home overnight. We all not to stop being so edgy about everything this team does and relax.

Just my two cents. You can take it for what its worth to you.
Those who dont understand, probably never will. I dont think you can fit those basic concepts into their heads. I know I have tried, but all I get back is negativity.

Very easy .... "Hot dogs, green grass, coming your way. Guaranteed to have a heckuva day."

Good point, I remember feeling that Ebbets club, and Dukes Grill was a little over the top, and worried me...but when i went to Citi, it really felt all Mets. Even with quirky tall walls in the outfield and the asymetrical dimensions, the dimensions more closely resemble Shea than anything else. The 2 apples, the orange foul poles (we are the only team sans yellow poles), the skyline in Centerfield hangout/food court....NY symbols in the iron fences, Mets sylouetts of Endy, swoboda, and depending on who you ask Doc or Seaver.

It's only gonna get better as more Metness seeps in....

the concrete just dried, the ball park is gonna be here awhile....give it some time.

    Names do matter.
Would you guys feel this way if ownership decided to call one of the restaurants, The Original Yankee Stadium Club
and had a giant picture of it in the CF concourse?

Suppose we wind up playing the Dodgers in the NLCS this year, will you still be so benign about it at Game 1?

Obviously looking at the front of this stadium and the name of a Club inside,
    management doesn't share your opinion.

Amen. And lets give credit for the Mets doing something right. Its Rachel Robinson, in conjunction with the Mets Franchise, that got the number 42 retired in every stadium and its the Mets/Rachel Robinson keeping his legacy alive. Larry Doby has no MLB team behind him pushing for his memory or his number to be retired yet he came up only 3 months after Robinson in the AL.

It's why I like to wear my Newark Eagles hat (Larry Doby's negro league team), so when people ask what the hats about I can let em know about an ignored piece of history.

IMHO Jackie's number should be retired by only N.L. teams
and Larry Doby's number should should be retired by the A.L. teams

And just for the sake of argument, if George moved the Yankees franchaise to Tampa next year and tore down NYS, and NYC is award an expansion team in the US, I don't think too many current Yankees fans would have a problem calling their new stadium the Original Yankees Stadium or have a Rotunda named after Ruth or Mantle who didn't do nearly as much as Jackie Robinson did for baseball. Just my opinion.

I'm going to tape a video of me crying, "Leave Ralf alone" and throw it on Youtube. I'll post the link when completed.

Exactly!!! the New York Highlanders build the Babe Ruth Rotunda at their new stadium, and it has fans in an uproar saying he is a Tampa Bay Yankee and should be honored in Tampa! LOL
