Didn't you vacate them because it was right at the mouth of a portal, with drink spillers and cold winds? Plus it was a three seater, right? They don't split them into a pair and one (last year I could have gotten a CCLUB upgrade to Section 330 Row 3, but only as a three seater).

I grew up in dead central NJ, graduated high school two years ago, and in my high school, and even at Rutgers, I only know a handful of Devils fans, where as I know a TON of Ranger Fans, myself included. I don't think the devils have as strong a fanbase as you suggest.

I think the Rock is the best place to watch a game in the NYC Tri-State Area. It's too bad the team I root for doesn't play there more than 3 times in a season.

Sad to say, the Devils are the best team in hockey that nobody watches.

Saltzy, 'the Korean' has you on this one buddy. The Devils are 23rd out of 30 in average attendance. On a percentage of seats sold, the Devils have 85%, but there are ELEVEN teams with 100% or more !!! In fact, as a percentage of seats sold they are 21st. Not where a first place team in a new building needs to be. Of the 7 teams below the Devils in numerical avg, 6 of them have been mentioned as either a candidate for contraction or relocation by Forbes, the Sporting News, and Hockey greats like Guy Lafleur and Patrick Roy, among others.

Try getting tickets to the Flyers or Rangers or Blackhawk or Red Wings, etc
in the very same economy. In fact, I would say Detroit's economy is far worse than NJ, not to mention California (Kings and Sharks ahead of Devils).

The Devils have a great team, but they should be at capacity every night.

Anyway, 2 quick points...(before I get fired)

-This "If a tree falls in the Prudential Center will anyone hear it?" theme is ridiculous. You want to make the argument that the arena should be 100% full for every game, fine. Personally I think that's asking a lot, but I always strive for perfection, so I can understand the thought process. However, statements like, 'They are the best team that no one goes to see.', and 'It's a shame they have such a nice building. It would be nice if people actually went there.' are completely ridiculous. The place is full for all the weekend and rival games, and again, from what I've seen 75%-80% full for every other 'regular game'. Compare this to the Izod Center when even tickets for the Rangers' and Flyers games were very easy to come by. Building a fan base in a new city, especially one not exactly known for its 'hockey fandom' is gonna take some time. Honestly, I'd say they are further ahead of schedule then I thought they'd be.

-These comparisons to some of these other teams are absurd. Toronto has 3 teams. One draws like crap(Jays) and the other 2 have cult like followings. Plus, um, it's Canada and this is hockey. Minnesota has 4. The Rangers play at MSG in the biggest city in the world. Honestly, you can book an empty stage and probably still sell 5,000 tickets in this city. The Devils are competing against 8(!) other local teams, 2 of which play in the countries biggest sport during the same time of the year, and 2 other teams that play the same sport in the same city.

I have to ask. How many of you bashing the Devils and/or The Prudential Center have ever even seen the team play there?

Urgh. I have to be the biggest hypocrite on the planet. All I do is pass judgement on the list of infamous people that have got nabbed either emailing, texting or the like stuff they probably should not have, being that these days it always seems to come back to bite people right on the ass, but I guess I haven't really said anything objectionable or fireable.

Yes, until further notice I will be performing The Lord's work with Mr. Blankfein. And I mean that literally. I am in the payroll dept that pays all the 'deciples' playing with figures that make anything else I've ever seen seem like kids starting a lemonade stand. Mind boggling stuff.

Anyway, outside of NFL teams, and maybe the Red Sox, Cubs, Lakers and Celtics tell me one professional sports team, successful or not, that plays in front of crowds in excess of 80% for every single game. The Devils have done a fabulous job of getting people to go to see them play in the last 2 1/2 seasons, and that includes a large chunk of time in basically the worst economic climate in a generation and for the #4 sport in the country. You guys are just haters. There are no facts whatsoever that support your claims.

Saltzy, a team with the track record that the Devils have had for the past, what 16 years, should be selling out left and right. That's just my opinion. Three Cups, who knows how many division titles (9?), and consistently putting a winning product on the ice, given the money issues / salary cap. The ground Lou walks on should be worshiped.

The Devils quality of play is on par with the Yankees, but they just don't draw like the Yankees. That is why I write, "They are the best hockey team nobody goes to see."

At least I can have intelligent puck talk with a Devils fan. I can't talk to an Isles fan worth a damn.

Again, with their track record, there is no reason why they shouldn't be selling out every game.

I have seen probably half a dozen games in the Rock, and for half of them, the Rangers were not playing. (I was actually there the night that Marty was honored for becoming the NHL's most winning goalie.) It's a beautiful arena. I wish the Rangers had such a great building.

But there is NO REASON that someone who is NOT a season / plan holder for the Devils should be able to buy GREAT tickets (end ice, upper bowl, Row 1, right behind Marty's net -- the seats were awesome) for a Stanley Cup Playoff game (against the Rangers, no less) on the morning of the game FROM THE CLUB at face.

If there were that many Devils fans, those tickets would have been gone.

I remember Chico, on the repeat cablecast, making comments that there WERE more Rangers fans in the building that night then Devils fans, and he was very upset about it.

Not that I've been bashing, but I did see one game there. (Round 1 of the playoffs against the Rangers in 2008.) Definitely a nice facility, but it cost $100 to sit maybe 100 feet up. I live on the 9th floor and it was pretty comparable to looking out my window down to street level.

The point being - that was a lot of bucks for a marginal seat to a first round playoff game. I'm not familiar with regular season pricing, but maybe the tickets are overpriced relative to seat location, team location, and team popularity, which hurts attendance?

I know this is CITI FIELD's thread, but it is January, the field is frozen, its six weeks until pitchers and catchers, so a little OT we go.....unless we say the Devils, Rangers, Isles should play a round robin tournament in CITI FIELD this weekend. Lord knows its cold enough.

Saltzy. I like the Rock, admire Lou , praise the Devils, and also attend Isles games too. I love hockey.

Doug. Just for kicks I went online to ticketmaster for Rangers tickets, after one of those commercials during last night's game saying single game tickets available. No blues/greens available for two together. A single, yes one single ticket, to the last row behind the goal in the old blue seats.....with fees came to $59.05 !!!!!!!! Forget that.
I can go on stubhub and get decent Devils seats for that, or first row VIP seats at Nassau for some games.

The New York Rangers have these receptions for Full Season Ticket Holders all the time... the big one like the one they had this year at the Hammerstein, plus the smaller ones they have in the lobby of the entrance to the Felt Forum.

The larger one.. no autographs. But the smaller ones, they most always have a meet and greet and autograph session following...

Very cool, and very classy.

I understand that they are reconfiguring the citi field bullpens. Supposedly, the home and visitors bullpens will be side by side facing the field, perpendicular to the outfield wall.

I am wondering if there is enough room to do this. The pitcher warming up would have to stand in the area where they have the shea home run apple.

Does anyone have pics or diagrams of the citi field bullpen area so i can get an idea of how this will work?

I was wondering if someone was going to post this. I heard Evan Roberts mention it this morning. I was in the car at the time so my initial reaction was, "Wow, awesome. I'll probably have an email waiting for me when I check it." Then, nothing. I thought, hmmm, Roberts sits in row 1 of the EL behind home, I bet this is just for people who have big time seats. Sure enough, this confirms it.

I can't say I'm angry or annoyed really, maybe just a little disappointed. STH's invited to this definitely do spend a lot and deserve it.
