I don't! What Fred constructed happens to be one of the most beautiful ballparks in the country. It's as charming as Shea was cold and crass.
sure, charming doesn't win games...

reality really sucks.
enjoy the game more...
typical, an afterthought, boring, and cheap.
no image like hodges?
i guess that within the "family" there was no other owners worth much effort but them,
you'll never see a doubleday gate...

I'm not going to go crazy, but even i have to say that just an awning saying "Payson" is a little lame, no? Would it have been that much harder to make it "Joan Payson entrance"? lol Typical Mets. I guess adding 12 or so more letters went a tad over budget.![]()

Citi Field blue fence
By Shannon Shark
This just showed up on twitter via @ginasans. I don’t know when it’s from.http://metspolice.com/2012/03/28/citi-field-blue-fence/

Gerardo Parra, a lefthand batter, steps in to lead off. Harvey's first pitch on the way, it's a fastball on the inside corner for a called strike, nothing and one, a 93-mile per hour fastball to Gerardo Parra. Parra batting at .281 with 6 homers, 28 runs batted in. - Howie Rose's call of Matt Harvey's very first pitch in the big leagues... Mets at Arizona, July 26, 2012
Another one, from original source.

Found the 2012 CF beer list too! Don't see much difference from last year. Did we have the Brooklyn Pennant Ale? Ommegang is a welcome addition (unless there already). Blue Point and Shock Top expanding selections.

You know, with all the sharp angles battling each other, random girders and aggressive signage, one hardly notices the blue walls: they get lost in the claustrophobic chaos of the overall bad design. Talk about a thin, blue line.
Just another cheap, tacked-on, too-late attempt to add Mets identity. If they were to paint the Willowbrook Mall blue and orange would it suddenly have Mets identity? No. Same thing here.

Im convinced people will complain about anything.. Its a friggin Ballpark people , get over it.. i like Citi way more then Shea, The Blue wall will look alot more noticeable in person.. Geez!! Every year it looks more Met Like.. The Hatred for the Wilpons is understandeable but the petty nit picking when improvements are being made is ridiculous!!!
and if you cant notice that Blue wall, i suggest you go to the eye doctor.. Its pretty Bright!!
Also shows the now translucent dark backdrop behind "citi FIELD" that NymDan alluded to.

Blue Walls look good
It's Time For Dodger's Baseball
I've posted this before... posting it again. What I did was take out most of the ads in right field and a couple in center as well. Of course, there were some other enhancements as well. Much of it was based on looking at the Nats ballpark which seems to handle its advertising in a much more elegant manner. When you have greedy owners who wish to squeeze every ounce of revenue out of a stadium without regard for aesthetics you get the dilemma Citi Field has with the adboards both inside and out.

I was really hoping they would move the retired numbers and championship banners to the Shea Bridge. It looks like they did not put up the banners yet. I'm sure they will be pasted back on that wall as well.
I would ignore anything Mongoose says about Citi Field, as it is always 100% negative. If certain people had their way, we would still be going to crappy Shea as it literally crumbled beneath us. Meanwhile, almost every club in the majors now has a new ballpark. Even the Yankees who had a huge historical reason to keep their old one.

I love the blue walls, next up orange and blue chairs!
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.
Fact: Your own eyes tell you the place is a visual mess. In your own words: "When you have greedy owners who wish to squeeze every ounce of revenue out of a stadium without regard for aesthetics you get the dilemma Citi Field has with the adboards both inside and out." If you've been ignoring my posts then you seem to have come to the same conclusions independently.
Fact: Beyond just the famous obstructions and disappearing outfield corners, the new stadium also managed to take up more overall space, yet slash the number of seats in foul territory from 50,000 to 25,000. The only thing that mitigates the elimination of a ton of good seats is the Wilpons' inability to put a good team on the field that might draw enough fans for it to matter.
I could go on, but that's enough. The place is such an eyesore the blue wall is hardly noticeable. It's dwarfed by the mountains of horrible signs that tower over it.

The blue walls are hideous, just like all the blue that smothered Shea from the '90's on. Guess the leftover touchup paint had to go somewhere.
Also, anyone notice how they don't go with the smart, understated green seats? In a ballpark with as many angles and elements as Citi, paint is one element that can help pull it all together; make it less jarring. Oh well, at least we know one thing: no architect or designer ever has to worry about losing their job to a Mets fan.

Hey, I just noticed that the F, I, E, L and D in the huge CitiFIELD sign atop the Main Entrance (and over the scoreboard) are the exact same font as the letters in the old EBBETS FIELD sign atop Ebbets Field. (You can tell when you compare the F and the E.) Someone really did their homework! Very subtle; very cool.
This is very true. The biggest complainers usually just can't let go of the fact that they can't get walk up box seat tickets for $5 to any game they want any more. There are ways to get cheap tickets, but it's a market economy and if people or companies are willing to drop $300 or more on a baseball ticket you can't expect the owners to turn that down
