There weren't any on the back of the center field scoreboard. Can't really get a view of the front.

Richard, if you go back to the original overhead a page or so back, the RF pole shows as an orange line, whereas if the photo were from straight overhead (and higher is better for this sort of thing), it would show as a circle (the main pole) with a narrow line coming off it (the screen on the inside of the pole).

I think also on your post where you used a 127'3" segment, your segment seemed to pull up a little shorter than where 2nd base would be - the lines between 1st and 2nd, and between 2nd and 3rd, would not be quite as close to the infield grass line, IMO. If you make that segment a bit longer, your total distance for CF will be a bit smaller...

FWIW, using the prints posted here a while back, I find that if the RF and LF lines are as "advertised", then center field needs to be something like 410-411 to fit geometrically with the prints. So I think CF may be a little deeper than advertised, but I think if it was 425 or more, that difference would be noticeable to fans and to the players, so let's see what Beltran and his counterparts have to say about it in coming days...

And actually, I missed it before, but the RF pole and LF pole both show as lines, and they go in different directions, which is a dead giveaway that the photo was taken from a fairly low altitude, from somewhere between the two poles. When you get a very high altitude (e.g. satellite) photo that is not directly overhead, you see the two poles as lines, but going int he same direction, which is not ideal either, but something you can adjust for. This photo is probably not suitable for dimensioning without some careful adjustment of the raw measurements...

How much the calculations are off is proportional to the angle of the image, and it appears to be directly overhead.

So while I agree the calculations will be off, I do not think they will be as innacurate as you think. The discrepancy of 34.25 feet is a very large distance, if the 408 measurement is correct and that discrepancy was attributed to the angle of the image, the image would not appear to be taken directly overhead, but at a noticable tilt which in my opinion, I am not seeing.

They are not too long, see the image I included which shows Pro Baseball Field Dimensions.

As for Major League teams lying about the OF distances, see the Boston Redsox

Though I could be wrong, this has sturred up some much needed On Topic friendly debates and gives me something to do until 7:00 PM
A photo from a higher elevation would be able to give you a more accurate result. You're assuming the opposite. Having a photo directly overhead HELPS but you you have no idea at what angle the camera was held. As someone who works with this stuff for a living, take my word for it. Your methods are innacurate and will almost always yield a result longer than the actual.

Gotta pay for K-Rod and Putz! Fortunately we don't have to watch the game from the back of the scoreboard.

I got rid of my Wednesday game 3 weeks ago for face and Friday nights back in February for above face!
Any baseball-fever people looking for Mets tickets for single dates or a small package for face value for next year, as I will not be able to make all 81 games, send me a PM and we can work something out.

Citi Field is very nice, and I had very high hopes while it was being built. But while I was watching the game on Saturday I felt like I was watching he play at Citizens Bank Park or Bucsh Stadium with he brick backstop. I felt like I was watching he Yankees play at Yankee Stadium when I watched them. I'm not trying to bash Citi Field cause it is very nice, but it doesn't seem homey and Mets feeling.

They put a great deal of pressure on him, making him a #2. He did bounce back nicely here in the second.
Delgado sent a group of people to stubhub for porch tix after that shot in the first. And they are not just looking for front row seats.

You can if you're standing in the parking lot between Roosevelt Ave and 126th street.

I listened to the first game of the year on the radio while at work. Watching tonight's game I noticed that the Mets are wearing the citi field patches on their hats. I'm surprised that they are wearing them on the road too. I'm not a fan of hat patches. It will cost them at least 3 wins this year, sort of the same way that wearing "eye-black" adds 10 points to one's batting average. Well, at least they aren't wearing the Domino's patches on the hats.

Great pics John! You really are good in the clutch, we were in need of a hit! Just like Beltran (4-3 Mets) you came through for us. I really liked the close ups of the new "You Are Here" signs. Thanks!!!
Did I see Mets colors in those signs?

great pics john Q.( wasnt that a movie?) anyway am I the only one who thinks the back of the scoreboards woulda been better if they just left it lets go mets on the cf one and welcome to citi field on the rf one or vise versa? I understand about making money off revenue from ads but it looks really cheesy and cluttered.
