As I see it, Jacobs Field was a trailblazer in this horrible movement.

Why have the corporate types abandoned it anyway?
Before we vilify the Jake, US Cellular was built 3 years earlier and it has three levels of "skyboxes." Only in most parts, the middle, would-be skybox is replaced small tier of mezzanine seats. Progressive field also has a mezzanine tier in some parts.

But these respective upper decks are no further from the action than those of any other modern park's. Every new park is more or less the same in this area, only these two are the only ones that have the "three glass stripes" visible beneath the upper deck. Most parks have a similar number of skyboxes and differing configurations of the mid-level suite/mezzanine big-bucks seating.

The only thing different about the Cell's profile from the Jake is that the three-level skyboxes don't continue along the lines.

I think Progressive is fantastic and the light towers are unique. Geez, everyone wants "different" and hates "contrived" but you get something different and everyone jokes about it.

I'm stopping in Clevelandtown on a road trip tomorrow. I'm gonna see the Jake for the first time, and Jose Contreras get lit up probably.

Anyone know what row Z in 153 is? I can't tell if it's Diamond Box (close) or Field Box (up top). The ad actually said both things (very helpful, guy). Some other ad described row W as "11th row!!" though, so I'm just wondering.

I would assume it's up top because they were only 19.99.

It looks like 153 & 154 have no diamond box. It looks like it's field level right behind the plate

Yup, you are behind the plate (a good ways back). Good seats. Contreras is safe. The Wahoos are in a major funk. On the plus side the seagulls are gone as are the bugs. On the downside, most of the fans are gone too! Plenty of good sections available.

I like the ones that are black or dark green metal and look like they were built in the olden days. But those are minor complaints.

I like this ballpark, the 3 levels of suites don't bother me. At least the upper and lower decks are uniform. I do believe the main scoreboard in left is too big however.

The park's feel is vastly different with the stadium half-full. I try to go when I know the attendance at the stadium will be good. I'm sure that's the same at any ballpark though, but the 455 consecutive sellouts are part of the fabric of this park's history.
Cleveland had a good run with their sellout streak. Great achievement.

I knew I was behind the plate, just didn't know how far back. Yeah, you can't beat behind the plate for 19.99. They were listed at 29.99 and went down for some reason when I checked out.

Weather is terrible tonight and looks like more rain tomorrow. Can't be two big rain delay games in a row. Just can't.

The Progs kinda boring, I liked sitting on the RF bleachers on the wall though

I'll have to find a night off to catch a game from behind the plate. What I do know.. Those club seats are waaayyy too flat on the risers..

    Make the scoreboard smaller

The scoreboard here is just too big, I would reduce the size by around 35% This is certainly the top ballpark built in the 1990s and 2000s in the Midwest.

Here's a very half assed panorama from my seats that I put together as a joke. Turned out to be in the 17th row. Kind of odd for a row "Z." But anyway this park was as good as I thought it would be. I'd put it number 2 behind ATT, and in front of Cincy, Detroit, Miller and Wrigley.

Actually I did before the game. Unfortunately, I was drunk and every picture I took...the camera was set on camcorder, so that didn't work out. But I do have a few more.

Also this is just a cell phone so I'm aware these are pretty awesome, I mean mediocre. There isn't much in this thread though, so why he hell not?

I move to left at the end of the game to get a head start out of the place. I was parked beyond the outfield near the QLA. And the last one is a crappy picture of both stadiums (stadii? stadia?) from an Irish bar. I forget the name but they had really bad Guinness.

I've never been there, but is it just me or is Jacobs field one of the ugliest stadiums in baseball. why would they stack the suites on top of each other. how bad are the upper deck seats on the first base line.

Probably just as bad as the third base line.

And it's just you I think. Place is pretty damn sharp looking. The only flaw is one too many skybox levels, but the upper deck appears to be in line with most including NYS.

I don't think its that bad. Why would the upper deck seats in Cleveland be any worse than any other ballpark? This place, for the most part got rave reviews when it opened. The fact that Cleveland had a strong entertaining team and sold out 455 consecutive games didn't hurt either. Jacobs Field is pretty classy except for the overly large scoreboard. Nice.

The only part of the Jacobs Field upper deck that isn't very good is in RF, especially the seats near the corner up there. Any time we get seats up there, we just go to standing room.

Jacobs Field is like the Taj Mahal compared to Cleveland Stadium.

I thought Jacobs Field was very sharp looking, besides for the scoreboard being too big. It fits in with the area, and I like how it feels integrated with the city around it. The left field gate is a cool place to look from before they open the gates, and the modern design is unique for the new parks. The light towers are a nice feature to differentiate the place from every other park too. Take out about half of the scoreboard and it'll be great. The boxes don't look bad when you're there

only thing I didnt like about Jacobs was that all the Upperdeck seats arent angled towards home. its only in the lower part of the UD. but I guess I could chalk that up to it being one of the first to incorporate them at all and gradually started the trend. Other than that little extremely minor nitpick the stadium is perfectly fine.

    Suites

Many people when discussing Jacobs Field, almost always bring up the multiple levels of suites there, I imagine many of them haven't been leased out

Progressive Field, eh? Wonder if they have a night where they give away "Flo" bobblehead dolls...

Labor Day weekend in 2008, Indians vs. Mariners. Progressive Field along with a few things you don't see too often. The Blue Angels were doing a show during the entire game, and they buzzed the stadium a few times. It was incredible to see, and ridiculously loud when they came close to the park. One thing I discovered about this park is that the foul territory is made up of pretty convincing artificial turf, with the Indians logo permamently painted behind the plate. The turf ends about a foot away from the foul line

Concourse area on the first base side

View of the scoreboard during game time

1997 American League Champions. It was fun to look at this one, from the right field main concourse

Jose Mesa in the concourse behind the left field bleachers. He was the goat in Game 7 of the 1997 World Series, blowing the save for the Indians in the bottom of the 9th to send it into extras

The Indians Heritage Park in center field. I didn't know this was there before I saw it, and it was a nice place.

Blue Angel smoke over center field

Looking in from center field at the much-maligned triple stack suites
