The annual post-All-Star break doldrums continue

I've noticed that practically every year the Giants lose a lot of games after the All-Star break. Here's a look at how the team started out after the All-Star break for the past 5 years:

    2008: 4-8
    2007: 3-9
    2006: 6-12
    2005: 8-11
    2004: 7-9
In 2003 they won their first 9 after the break.

It seems every year they go into the break a little hot and then can't win for a few weeks afterward. This year, of course, they have lost 4 of the first 5. Let's hope they they can pick it up. Timmy tomorrow!

  3. 11 runs scored in six games since the all-star break will give you that sinking feeling, no doubt!

The Giants have struggled all season on the road. So this post All-Star game slump doesn't surprise me at all. This is one major reason why I don't consider the Giants a legit playoff team just yet. Legit playoff teams play well on the road. But this slump is good experience for the young players to learn how to deal with losing. And I hope this slump will finally prove to those Giants fans who think the Giants are a World Series caliber team that the Giants are not there yet.

Ishikawa would be the poster child for what you're describing.

Oh Ishikawa is the Jekyll and Hyde of hitters.

    Home: .353/.382/.552, 142 OPS+
    Road: .144/.230/.233, 29 OPS+

He's 2 for 13 (.154) on the current road trip.

    Go figure.

So what does Ishikawa do in today's game? He goes 3 for 5 with a run scored.

Another "bright side"! Barry wasn't being Barry: 3 hits, and only 1 earned in 7!

I agree too Wags. It would be nice to win the Wild Card, but I'm under no illusions about the ability of this team to go deep into the playoffs. Fact is, this team just doesn't come close to hitting enough to be competitive in the playoffs.

However, I wouldn't want to be playing the Giants in 2011!

However, Zito also had five walks.

Hey hey hey... Don't rain on the parade. Don't forget Barry is typically a second half pitcher. We're past the all star break. Can anyone else join me in a "Bear-eee Zeee-toe" cheer?
