Padres sign Russ Adams

Russ Adams: In news that might fly under the radar, the Padres signed Russ Adams after he was sent packing by the Jays. Right now, Adams is in AAA, but that will not last long. He was hitting over .300 in AAA before his short stint with the Jays this year. Also, he is just 28 and has had major league success in the past. No, he will not make any Padre fan forget Gary Templeton or Ozzie Smith, but he could see substantial time in the second half and make a nice addition in deep NL only leagues.

Russ Adams is not a good player. I've seen him play for the Blue Jays, and he was given every chance to succeed there because he was hand-picked by J.P. Riccardi as a first round draft pick. Even then he could not hold down the SS position, which is why we brought Scutaro in. Hell, he couldn't even beat out John McDonald for the utility role position.

In short, SD adds yet another Triple AAA player to its 40 Man roster
