Cooperstown Cap Company New York Giants Caps

So- I got the Giants caps from the Cooperstown Cap Company. They are the best caps I've ever had. I got a 1950s Giants and a 1911 home Giants cap. In the comparison picture, I have a New Era current Giants cap, a New Era NY Giants cap, an American Needle NY Giants cap and the Cooperstown Cap. All the other ones just look like Mets caps in orange and black.

I first put on the 50s cap and it was amazing. The moment I put on that cap it was like I'd worn them for years and were perfect. The leather sweatband is great and just like they say, the hat is cool even in 100 degree heat.

The 1911 Giants cap is great too. It fits more like the caps you see bicycle racers wear and it is just as comfortable as the 50s cap.

I ordered two more caps now- a 1958 SF Giants with the lettering like the NY from the 1950s and a current Giants cap. I can't wait for them. I'll probably get the other 1911 cap and maybe another one too. I can't recommend getting these hats enough!

That Cooperstown cap stands out. I have been buying from them for years now, and you can tell the difference. That IS a NY Giants cap. Worth the 50 bucks for sure. Good purchase!

That cap is beautiful (and that's coming from Mr. Brooklyn Dodger!). The other caps are fine, but the Cooperstown one (first picture on top and last cap in the final photo) are just perfect. Wear it in good health my friend.

Wow! They did a really nice job on that cap. You are correct when you say that the other makes are Mets caps in black and orange but the Cooperstown Cap really shines and shouts authentic!

They are top notch. Eight or nine years ago, I got the '44 Browns, and the '41 Phils from Cooperstown Cap. Love 'em both.

Exactly right....I remember as a kid collecting the early edition of the '58 Topps cards and being so confused once the Giants season actually started and I saw pics in the papers. Not really knowing much about the Seals at age 8, I deduced that the cards were the artists rendition of what they thought the Giants cap would look like. As for how the 1958 one stacks up against todays, the lettering is a bit different and from looking at my old cards and mags, seems the '58 SF was a bit thinner and smaller. The GIANTS on the uni's was also a bit smaller and seems to fit the uni top a bit better than todays which seems a bit too large and gaudy. Still, at least to me, the best looking cap and uniform in the bigs even with the changes. I'm so glad they went back to some semblance of their classics.

Great looking caps. I have a New Era version of the Giants cap but after seeing yours, I think I have to get one of them. I have always wondered why the Mets, if they must wear black caps, didn't at least use the orange NY as opposed to that almost unreadable one they do use. I'm sure there would be no problem with the Giants had they so opted. I guess that would be enough to give Wilpon the willies (no pun intended).

Good point- I didn't realize that. I know that it was on the Topps set, but I wasn't sure if they actually used that logo during the season.

Broken in caps and hats you can't put on a bed, but before it's fine. I didn't think about that at all when I made those pictures...

I think there ought to be a separate board for guys who collect stuff like this. I have replica caps for all the original 16 clubs, as well as a couple of others, and a couple of jerseys too. Food for thought.

Anybody ever bought one of Cooperstown's 1933 caps? I'm curious as to how good the logo looks in person.

I managed to pick up the American Needle 1911 cap for $4.95 at Urban Outfitters in downtown San Francisco. Wrong size but I'm actively working to shrink it! I had paid $30 for a 1922 Yankees months ago so this was a great find.

I'd love to know if there is a way to shrink a good cap, without ruining it. I have several that I really like, but are a tad large.

Wear it in the shower and leave it in the sun. Or you can try to leave it near the back window in the car. The heat will shrink it. The drawback, especially if you have a New Era hat are:

1. Creases
2. Cap loses it's structural integrity
3. Bill gets soft

Where do you live? If you live in New York or the Bay Area it's definitely worth going to an Urban Outfitters and trying to find the hat.

Don't know what happened to the message I posted with the foregoing photos but this is an original 1950s New York Giants cap which I recently purchased. Believe it or not it's in brand new condition.

I apologize for the size and hope that you can reduce it on your computer.

The cap is virtually the same cap I purchased in 1954 from Gerry Cosby & Co. The only difference being the manufacturer, Pro KM. Pro KM I believe, took over the manufacture of many MLB teams caps from Tim McAuliffe & Co. around 1956 or '57 and continued through the mid to late 70s.

If I wasn't so happy I'd be almost embarrassed to admit that I got it for $86.00 on ebay. You may wish to compare this cap to a Sal Maglie cap sold at a memorabillia auction a few years ago. That cap can be seen at:
