I think walks are overrated unless you can run. If you get a walk and put the pitcher in a stretch, that helps, but the guy who walks and can’t run, most of the time he’s clogging up the bases for somebody who can run. – Dusty Baker.
The 49ers now have the money for their new stadium (I don't think they'll even need to increase taxes, except maybe on hotels). Construction is expected to begin soon.
So assuming the Raiders can be persuaded to share it, then perhaps the A's can do this:
- Temporarily move into AT&T Park
- Bulldoze the Coliseum to the ground
- Build a new A's ballpark on the old Coliseum site
- Then move into the new ballpark
I don't see the downside to this, really. Does Oakland have other stadium sites ready for the A's to use?

I like your idea regarding sharing AT&T park. Why not? It'll make interleague games easy too. As far as I know, Oakland doesn't have another venue capable of hosting MLB or else the team would already be there. The Coliseum is a horrible park and needs to go - it's easily the least desirable MLB park in use today...

^ Actually what I meant was, does Oakland have land available for the A's to build a new park. Sorry for the confusion.![]()

Does anyone know what this is? StadiumPage says it's the plan that Oakland wants to use. Apparently it would be built on the existing Coliseum site (with the Oracle Arena remaining from the old site)...I have never seen this rendering before. Anyone have more information on it?
Me, I like the Cisco Field rendering. I hope the final form of the new A's ballpark looks similar to this.

I've mentioned this already on the Candlestick Park page but here's my idea for the Oakland stadium issue.
The 49ers will leave Candlestick Park for Santa Clara in the near future. Candlestick Point could use a new tenant and the Athletics need a new stadium. In exchange for not moving to San Jose, the Oakland A's move into a new ballpark - perhaps with a roof - at Candlestick Point.

after just a little research

basically it is the city of oakland plan for 3 new stadiums to be built
in the present parking lot in order to avoid losing all 3 teams
1) a new ballpark for the A's
notice the seats in the baseball batters eye,the Raiders will play there for 2 to 3 years,
while their 60 to 80 grand stadium is buit and two to four parking garages
2) once the raiders move into the football stadium,
the A's ballpark will be modified for baseball only (no centerfield seats)
3) once the city makes some money from the hotels/housing complex/stadiums
a new arena for the golden state warriors will be built

^ So under that system, where would the A's and Raiders play while the new A's park is built?
I'm assuming the existing Coliseum would have to be razed before any new construction could begin.
I still think it could be possible for both of those teams to temporarily move elsewhere - A's to AT&T Park, Raiders to Candlestick - while new stadia are built. Once that's done, the A's and Raiders can move back to their own respective Oakland homes, and neither would need to play in each other's stadium, ever again.

I'd like this scenario for starters...get rid of Wolfe and Fisher as owners....

Who know's ??????
I'm assuming the existing Coliseum would have to be razed before any new construction could begin.
that a posibility, it seem like they can built BOTH stadiums at the same time in the area and than raze the coliseum
the planning that was finally approved and has a good chance of passing ALL THE WAY
(both the nfl and mlb will put up money for new stadiums)
is in stage one (1) and has about three more years before they put shovels to the ground

NO if they move they will not come back.
also the s.f. giants (MLB blessing) will not let the A's play in AT&t Park nor any where in the S.F. Giants territory
any body from oakland can post how long the A's has been asking for a new stadium
I want to say 15 years, but I think it is longer than that
Cisco Field was shot down by the people of Fremont
and the s.f. giants say no way to san jose
and MLB agreed

However, I still think the A's should consider Candlestick Point.
