Umpire press conferences
Last night, after the crappy calls Tim McClelland gave interviews on the press conference stand. I remember the same thing in 2005 with the infamous AJ dropped third strike play.
Back in the day, unless I'm remembering wrong- umps were never, ever allowed to talk to the press. Ever.
What's the rationale in changing this? I personally don't like it. Its nice to hear an ump admit a mistake, but opening him up to the politics that exist when the press gets involved can only be a bad thing. You'll start seeing umps make judgements with the press in the back of their heads.

An article that I read said that he didn't take any questions. So, all he really did was issue a statement with the press in the same room. I think it's better that he said something than nothing at all.

He should no longer be umpiring in the MLB. He can't see, hear, his reflexes are shot and he can no longer move swiftly.
