    Yankees Game Used Memorabilia

    Hi! I saw that this section of the forum seems to lean more to baseball card collecting but thought it would be cool to see some of you guys Game Used stuff. I am a huge Yankees fan and collector and would love to see other peoples collections.

    I basically only collect game used baseball cards. I do have a sign and a locker-room plaque from old (real) Yankee Stadium, and a game used line up card that was used in Baltimore in a game between the Yankees and the Orioles and its autographed by Joe Torre, (got all those from Steiner), but other than those items, i pretty much stick to the cards with jerseys and bats and autographs. Got a few cards with swatches from the wall and dugout seat at the stadium too, and a couple with pieces of wood from a stadium seat, also a couple with pieces of balls and bases from Yankee games. I am totally out of room for my collection, but i can always buy more cards. I love cards because they take up virtually no space per card, you can get hundreds in an album.

    Hey OllieNYY, i see you have a jersey of Doug Mientkiewicz. Let me tell you, he came into the place i used to work a few times (he lives down here in South Florida), and i got a chance to have a few 15-20 minute conversations about baseball with him, and he is absolutely the nicest, most down-to-earth athelete you are ever going to find. A great guy for sure, and he autographed a few baseball cards for me. He told me he hated playing for the Mets, but LOVED playing for the Yankees. He was really upset when the Yankees sent him away, he would love to come back and be with the Yankees again, even as just a backup. So enjoy your jersey, and know that the guy who wore that jersey is not only super nice, but really appreciated playing for the Yankees. Also, congrats some really nice Yankee stuff dude! A collection to be proud of.

    Thats a great story about Doug dabigyankeeman! Glad to hear that he is a great guy. I used to be a big card collector too but I found that sometimes spending as much on one box with little swatches, I could spend the same on a Game Used Jersey and thanks to the contacts I made, sometimes cheaper!

    But in case of the amazing Dimaggio and the triple you have of the old players, thats what I would love to have! I have a triple threads of Thurman Munson who is my favorite 'past player' and I am happy to have that tucked in my wallet, knowing it will be a little while before I get my hands on one of his jerseys!

    Thanks, glad you enjoyed my post. You make a good point about collecting jerseys over cards, a full jersey is a great thing to have.

    On the old cards i showed, the triple is of Ruth, Gehrig, and DiMaggio, and the single is of Mantle. I love them, but i can really see where for current players it would be great to have the actual whole jersey.
