Ever heard of Babe Ruth?
G Man
Pedro Martinez
any other player
"I don't know if you realize this," Pedro Martinez told a crowded room of reporters during his news conference in anticipation of his Game 2 start Thursday, "but because of you guys in some ways, I might be at times the most influential player that ever stepped in Yankee Stadium."

Jackie Robinson is the most influential player to step into Yankee Stadium.
Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.-Crash Davis

Hahahaha, I am loving everything about this thread right now
Let's not forget the Papal visits, for all those Catholics out there.
Rube Foster spent a little time at Yankee Stadium as well, if my memory serves me right. He was a big deal, if you ask me (He did establish the Negro Leagues as an organized venture, making him debatably even more influential than Jackie).
Chick Gandil never played in Yankee Stadium.![]()
Who is the most influential player that ever stepped in Yankee Stadium?
Pedro Martinez?
any other player?
Not Pedro. But not just any other player...
He's definitely the most influential player to grab a 75 year old man by the head in Yankee Stadium and throw him to the ground.

I really think I'm going to have to go with the Babe on this one.
I think in context it was clear that Pedro meant visiting players, and he meant in terms of pop-media perception, "who's your daddy" and so forth.

I'm pretty sure (in fact, I'm almost positive) he just meant the New Yankee Stadium, in which case I agree with him.
Pope Benedict 16th then Roger Maris.
The record is still 61.
Most influential PLAYER
Did Bill Clinton or JFK ever go to Yankee Stadium????
What exactly has Pedro influenced? He's arguably a top-ten pitcher all-time but success it and of itself is not necessarily influential. There have always been great pitchers and everyday players.
I doubt Martinez was really serious in his comments here. Having fun or frustration with the media, who like to have fun with him.

I read it as: In his own delusional mind, who was the most influential player to ever step foot on the ground his walks on, including OYS and NYS.
Obvious answer: Pedro of course.
Nobody in history more influential than him sat on the 2nd from last stall either and created such important sewage.
I sure hope he was being purposely over the top and didn't actually believe this?

Nelson Mandela was a Boxer and a Runner and went to Yankee Stadium in 1990
1959 former Minor League Baseball Player Fidel Castro went to Yankee Stadium
Mistake Fidel Castro never played minor league baseball, he only played college baseball
