You know if these Matsui's last game for the Yankees....what a way to go out!
I'm sure the Yanks and fans will miss him.
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

I hereby declare that "DontLetMatsuiGo.com" shall be active shortly.

Seriously, we haven't seen a DH do that much damage in awhile (including one more famous DH of the Beantown variety).

I say keep him and bat him 5th. I remember the Japanese were once outraged that he'd batted 6th, since he'd usually batted 3rd or cleanup in Japan.

The Yanks absolutely cannot let him walk. I don't know about Damon, but Matsui is awesome.

  6. Right now. I want Matsui back but if this was it. What way to go out. Thank you to a consummate professional and someone at least in the US who will always be a Yankee.

    Ditto for Andy Pettite.

    An upperdecky! From Hidecki!

    What a performance!

  8. If this it for him, what an amazing way to go out. He's had an amazing run with them and he's the epitome of the true Yankee.

I'm still wrapped up in the euphoria of the World Series victory but the idea of Matsui on a one year deal sounds pretty good to me right now.

  9. Great career. Who knows what to believe but heard the possibility of him going to Seattle NY Mets or the Tigers of Japan the Giants arch rival. I'd like to see him come back for another year. As we know DH is a crowded spot on this team with all the older guys needing a blow.
