I will be there. With a high of 48 degrees, we'll have to dress warm though.
Starts on Friday at 11am going up the Canyon of Heroes (from the foot of Broadway in lower Manhattan by Bowling Green to City Hall, near the Brooklyn Bridge).
Who's going to be there?

Averaging one home run every 10.61 at-bats throughout an entire career - an amazing stat that gets little respect, yet will NEVER be broken!

New York Yankees
2009 World Series Champions
I wish. But I went to Game 6 of the ALCS, and one day of driving 10 hours is enough for this month. I'm just too busy.
There were several unshredded client information papers that were tossed from buildings in the 2000 parade. Social security numbers, adresses, etc.
On the positive side, I remember the last few parades, there were always people tossing tons of confetti outside of buildings. I have no idea how or why people got the courage to stand on a ledge and toss that stuff, but they never slipped, thankfully.
I also remember people tossing rolls of toilet paper from one side of Broadway to the next. Seemed weird, but it was fun. Happens when tons of people are there but no players in front of us.
There was some Little League team from Toms River, NJ in the 1998 parade, since they'd beaten some Japanese team in the LLWS. We also had marching bands, humongous clydesdales (those thick horses looked like they were on stilts), Radio City Rockettes, Joltin' Joe DiMaggio in 1996, and whatever other type of fanfare that can be cooked up.
Free tickets to the City Hall thing at the end of the parade were given out, with the winners getting either a phone call or an email. There, NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg will give the boys their keys to the city. You suppose he has a spare key anywhere?
Somewhere between 1-3 million are expected. With "only" 1.5 million people living in all of Manhattan, I wonder how that many can be crammed or sardined into a space that's 1 thin block wide, and only about 3/4 mile long. Hmmmmmm.
Enjoy!![]()

So far, the place has no porta potties in sight. How have people been here since 5am?
Still 90 minutes before the floats roll out and the place is flooded in a sea of blue (both Yankee fans and the NYPD).

If you weren't out there acting like an A-Hole then you have nothing to worry about and my comments would not have been directed to you, no? Fact is, I've been to all the parades since '96 and the Rangers and Giants and I've never seen the amount of A-hole's as this time. It's a personal observation not an indictment on everyone there. I love enjoying the parade, the win and everything Yankees. It's the A-holes I can do without. It was like St. Paddy's day times 10 around my work.

Thanks for the pics Mattingly. Wow it looks like it was a huge crowd. Anyone know if the parade will be repeated on tv?
