Thread: Our Mets Hall of Fame, election 36

  1. Our Mets Hall of Fame, election 36

Please limit your ballot to a maximum of 15 names.

This is the thirty-sixth election for Our Mets Hall of Fame. Last time, we elected Lenny Dykstra.

For the original rules and specifications for this Hall of Fame, see:

    http://www.baseball-fever.com/showthread.php?t=83894

    New, additional rules:

When voting, consider the player’s Mets career only. If you choose to vote “none of the above,” you must explain your decision or your vote will not count.

It is not necessary that you explain your other votes, however it is still encouraged that you do so.

I feel forced to note that the Veteran's Committee is a VALID election process, as a player IS eligible past 15 elections, if they meet certain criteria.

If you vote in a manner deemed suspect and three or more other voters ask you to explain your vote, and you do not, your vote will be disqualified.

  2. My votes:

    Bobby Bonilla
    Bobby J. Jones
    Dave Magadan
    Kevin McReynolds
    Randy Myers
    Bob Ojeda
    John Olerud
    Rey Ordonez
    Rick Reed
    Turk Wendell

  3. Bobby J. Jones
    Magadan
    McReynolds
    Olerud
    Ordonez
Rick Reed - he like gets it for being good (or maybe it was pitching a good game) during the wasteland of the 90s

And I see I missed Ojeda's name somehow.

I voted fr none of the above because in my opinion none of the listed players played at a significant enough level for a significant enough amount of time in a Mets uniform.

    is a farce.

It is time to re-word the rule. I highly doubt it was your intention for the same guy to cut n paste the same post in election after election after election. His post is not explination, it is contempt for your project and all who participate in it.

It IS an explanation. It is NOT a farce. Nor is it cut and paste. I write it each time I vote for no one. And, I state the basis of my opinion - clearly- as I have from the beginning prior to any animosity. I don't begrudge you for whom you vote, why do you begrudge me? You can vote for every player for all I care. You are entitled to your opinion as I am entitled to mine. Why are you so sensitive if my opinion differs from yours on who ought to be in the Mets HoF?

Explain to me how my post was not an explanation? Do you want me to write out an explanation for each and every player for whom I do not vote? I might suggest you and others need to explain why they did not vote for players as well. My generic explanation is more than appropriate because it clearly restates my standards, and if no player meets them I vote for no one as I am allowed - but now you want to change the rules for people whose votes you don't approve?

In the end, the majority will decide. I'm okay with that; always have been. Matter of fact, my point all along has been to let the majority decide. Isn't that the way it should be?

Also, I have no contempt for this part of the project. Stop making things up please.

  7. About a day left to vote.

At one point, there were four people who had a shot at the OMHOF this time around, and now, there is barely one.

Strawman, would you kindly explain why you voted for just Kevin Mitchell, and no one else? There seem to be other players who were better for the Mets longer than Kevin Mitchell was.

Jones definitely. And I'll go with Ojeda and Olerud. Their Mets careers were brief, but they were important.
