Jeter and Teixiera Gold Glove Winners

    Full Story.

Looks like Jeter and Tex were voted Gold Glove Winners at their positions.

    --

Rob Neyer thought Elvis Andrus and Kevin Youkilis should have won those awards. Personally, while Jeter may have had one of his best years with the glove I didn't think he would win it.
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

  2. Jeter probably shouldn't have won, but Youkilis? Didn't he play third half the year? I have a hard time believing he was better than Tex.

Hey if Raffy won a GG while a DH! LOL

Once you get one, they just keep coming. It's like bars of hotel soap.

Rob Neyer should check his facts. Youkillis only played 78 games at 1B. A simple search will give you those results. Even I find that absurd he said he believe Youkillis should have won the award. They got the right choice. Tex deserve the GG. I'm sure fans of the Yankees notice the huge difference at 1B after years of Giambi and part-time work of Damon and Posada.

Jeter wins yet another GG? At least he improved this year?

Jeter (amongst other bad choices) winning is a clear sign that the voters for this award don't give a rat's patootie about it or don't know what they are doing.

Jeter is a great player, but it is despite his defense not because of it.

In most years I would agree with you, but Jeter was much improved. Given that he had won three before, this was predictable even if wrong.
