Prices & Perks
Obviously, the ppl who paid hundreds per game were most deserving of the biggest price reductions for 2010. And - even for those of us in the 500's - a small reduction is better than an increase ...
But, that said, it would have been nice if the "average" 10% reduction trickled down to us a bit more generously ... saving 75 cents per game on my 513 seats (dead-center, behind home plate, low row) and $1.50 per game on my Porch seats (302 - low row) is not gonna make much of a difference. It would have been nice if they'd managed to reduce the average cost of every STH's per game price by at least a full buck ...
Also - it would be nice if they (like some other teams - including the one across the river ...) gave us a discount, as compared to the price ppl pay for individual game tickets. And it would be nice if they (like other teams ...) did not print the actual price we pay on the face of the tickets themselves - so that if we ask ppl for a couple of bucks - to cover transfer fees on mets.com, or just to make up for all the games we end up unable to use - they don't argue about it or feel like we're taking advantage of them.
In addition - I think one of the best things they could possibly do (other than actual concrete price reductions), would be to do away w/the variable pricing for all the games ... I don't know of 1 other team that does that; sure, some teams charge a few extra bucks for whatever games they consider "premium" games, but I don't think any other team has 5 price categories.
When people ask me how much the tix cost, it really sucks to have to say, "Well .... first, tell me what game you want, and then I'll check my pocket schedule and see what color that game is." Most ppl I speak to can't even grasp the concept - even Met fans who are not season ticket holders. For ppl who aren't really big fans, they have no idea, and no patience for the dissertation. Even if they manage to stay awake through the whole explanation, it's pretty tough to get ppl to pay even "face" for the gold game tix....
If we get them to include Acela Club and/or Caesar's Club access for all season-ticket holders, that would be nice too ...
Now that they've printed the invoices, etc., I'm sure they won't change the prices - nor the variable pricing schedule - but if enough of us chime in with the same comments (i.e. those reflected above, as well as any other thoughts everyone else has), the more likely that we might be able to make some progress - at least for 2011; and who knows, maybe we can even get them to re-work some of the details for 2010 ...
In the meantime, for anyone who's looking for tickets for 2010, I will be offering many/most of the games .... Section 513, Row 8 and Section 302, Row 4; if you are interested, please contact me, preferably via private message.... fyi - I believe INDIVIDUAL game prices are the same as last year (at least for most seats), so at least STH will have a small benefit there ...
Thanks!!! and - in the end .... LET'S GO METS!!!
