I wanted to thank everyone last week who was above all of the pettiness of posting camp attacks and, instead posted substance. I never post on what one camp believes or state other than my opinion about claiming that one teaches the MLB Swing because I have never been on that site. I joined another site but will no longer go there since it is in vogue for a person there to call out the minnions to come here and cause problems. The reason, of course, is that real substantial debate was occurring. BTW, I do not believe that all involved in the snipe camps from any camp are doing so based on any leader's request but rather seek information. Still, others I question and especially so since their posting habits have been negligable until now. I'd like to take this opportunity to recognize that I thought that Stealth made a very nice post regarding his belief, his journey etc. One can't argue that. There have been times where I, myself have not acted right and do owe an apology to 1chapterahead since I did lose my temper. 1chapterahead, I apologize. I'd also point out that I've never attacked Epstein or Yeager or Lau or... Why? They all have success. BTW, I do appreciate that in the most recent PCR/W crap that has been started, SE has been big enough to not come on to the site and post attacks.
One might wonder where I stand in this argument. I stand on the side of Baseball Fever. I have posted remarks to this effect. I have taken administrative actions to that effect deleting posts by members of both camps. I've also posted video of my child in this debate. Somehow the notion now is that if one doesn't then they lack credibility. I don't agree with that. I simply don't understand the need to post some guru's theory or attack another. If the debate is solid and the argument based upon what you believe, you should not ever have to resort to a camp statement. Again, I've stated clearly that if you teach it, you should be able to define or discuss it. I've wasted much of today avoiding acting like many. I see no positive purpose. Aren't we all active here because we care about kids? Or, is our agenda and testosterone level more important? I think it absure to assert, and as has been asserted toward me in more than one argument, that if I tend to attempt to teach a high level swing then I'm cheating kids. Do we all have to then try to one up each other. Is it important that I, or anyone else, change our signature to incorporate our resume?
I'll wrap up this with the notion that some of these agenda laden attacks are simply due to gurus being made scapegoats. In the heart of parents, that is always easier than seeing things for what they really are. It is not the system. It is not the coaching staff who won't give your son a chance. In the video I posted of my child, she has some flaws. If she fails, I'll take all of the responsibility. I'll repost video of her here again. However, I don't think she is that far off and, in fact, she will have an opportunity to play at the next level. That's already guaranteed. My question then would be, if you didn't know the "camp" I'm in then would you have any idea what she's been doing in practices? If I posted video of the players that I have playing throughout this great nation at the D-I level would you recoginze the camp? I state emphatically, hell no. You all just want to fight.
I'm disappointed in the nature of man.
Take care,
Darrell

First I want to say that I respect your post here. Also, I do feel your daughter has a great swing to build on. Sh obviously has a ton of athletic talent and keep up the great work with her!
Here is my take on something you said, "Aren't we all active here because we care about kids? Or, is our agenda and testosterone level more important? I think it absure to assert, and as has been asserted toward me in more than one argument, that if I tend to attempt to teach a high level swing then I'm cheating kids. I agree that many times, since we are guys here that the testosterone gets in the way along with ego, but my feeling is why not look at ALL the different approaches and/or websites to try to better your knowledge of the swing? The one thing I can honestly say about me is I am in search of making myself more knowledgeable everyday not only about the baseball swing but everything! I have researched extensively all these different websites over and over, plus all of the cds. I still look at many of them, but I found one that works best for me and for all of my students. I would think that would be a pretty good indicator that something is going right somewhere. All I am saying is keep your mind open, even if you don't necessarily like or get along great with everybody at that site personally doesn't mean you can't get some great tools to help.
In closing I would say there are guys in every camp I respect as people and hitting guys and some I just don't. Don't be afraid to give those places a chance and see if they can also help you become a better instructor.
Thanks, I appreciate thatI'd like to take this opportunity to recognize that I thought that Stealth made a very nice post regarding his belief, his journey etc.

Coach please keep in mind that many here might be years ahead of you and their journey is at a much different place than yours. Many HAVE searched for years and HAVE found what works. Does this preclude continuous learning? Of course not...
When I ask professional instructors (Many former professional coaches and players) I have used at my clinics or have had the privilege of speaking with at the WBC why they do not participate in open discussion forums - their answer is always the same... I don't have the time to CONVINCE people I am right. If they don't like what I teach - move on.

Jake, just because people might be years ahead as far as how long they have researched doesn't mean they have more knowledge or know anymore than me. My point is the learning should never stop.
I don't come in here to convince anybody of my stuff. I try to learn from as many people as possbile and help others do the same.
I don't think Jake meant that someone knew more than you. His reference was knowledge of these camp feuds. You've asserted which side you trust more. I'm sure in doing so that you've spent a lot of time studying both camps stuff and not hearing just word of mouth. That's fine and will benefit your kids since it makes sense to you and so you can transfer that to your players. The system I present to my players has helped them. The problem then is when people assert, as has happened that when I have a kid at a very good D-I school, he could have done better if I was in this camp or that camp. I find that reasoning absurd since it is based on a lot of assumptions. I didn't coach any of the numerous kids that I've coached with a camp in mind.

Cannoball, thanks for the post back.
I am not into fueding over the camps. I, like you just feel comfortable with the one I use and works for me. We agree on that mush at least
I am glad that you have found a way that works best for you and currently I have one that works best for me, but it is always a continous process to learn more. So eventhough I learn most of my work at one certain site, I have also learned from others.
I also don't coach with a camp in mind, I just do it with the kid's best interst in mind whatever that might be.
Coach,
No offense taken and none meant. Please accept my apology as well.
We're passionate about this stuff and sometimes we take it too far.
I appreciate you reaching out![]()

It would be good if folks would list the camp they are in using their profile (in the area below your name). Then we could save a lot of time.
Maybe:
1. see ball hit ball (instruction is for fools)
2. newbie Dad
3. 50 years (dont tell me anything)
4. Internet guru with hitting DVD
5. Internet guru without any products (broke and dumb)
6. Actual kid learning about baseball
