First, as a matter of CYA, Moderator can not be expected to be on line 24 hours a day. I certainly am not and, in fact, go a day or two without being on line due to my daughter's activities. I know that Jake Patterson has a life as well and so, there are periods where neither moderator is on line.

Having put up that disclaimer and the fact that I do sleep at night, I was not logged on line last night after 10:00. A log will demonstrate that should this proceed further. I'd take a bet that Jake sleeps at night as well. Therefore, we can not be expected to moderate any pissing contest that occurred last night or any night while we were off line and sleeping.

Members are asked to treat each other with a degree of civility. That is not only a request by this site, but in degrees, it is the law. I attempted to make a statement to this effect about 2 weeks ago when members were crossing the line. The response was that this shouldn't be a legal issue. That is up to those offended and not the person throwing insults. In saying this, if one attacks another's livelihood, they had better be prepared to back any assertions up with fact. If one attacks another's reputation, they had better be able to back that up with fact. If one makes statements as to the practices of a business, one had better be ready to back those statements up with fact. Back those statements up in a court of law! The Internet is not an open forum to slander, commit liable, make threats, ...

The Internet is also restricted by things like copyright laws. Moderators have no way of knowing all of these various issues and, on this site, we have removed said material every time it has been posted and we have been notified. We are not lawyers. We have acted reasonable. I'm certain of that having just been through this.

As an FYI, if some thread, post, etc. is deleted, it is still there. I pointed that out a couple of weeks ago. For moderators, we have the ability to view them. They are also on a server. Again, having been through this already, tech people can find that information both on the server and on your computer. We have the IPs of all of the computers you use to access this site. The actions we have taken also show that we have demonstrated reasonable and prudent actions.

What we have done... Jake Patterson and I have deleted threads, deleted posts, edited posts, ... In doing so, we have demonstrated efforts to control threads WITHOUT REGARD TO ANY CAMP while enforcing the rules/guidelines of this site. I am now posting this thread as a further call to reason.

With regards to other sites, we have no control over that. Owners of that and those sites surely have legal help.

It is an absolute shame that I have to make this thread. I know the actions I will take today.
