Gil Hodges and the Baseball Hall of Fame
In Gil Hodges teammates own words like Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese, and Roy Campanella, Gil is a Hall of Famer. The words come from Hofers and teammates themselves. I just quoted a book, The Quiet Man, Gil Hodges by Marino Amoroso. Pages numbers are listed. I did all the research.
Jackie did a great thing, but he did not do it alone. The team was involved. As Jack(Jackie Robinson) said, He counted on Gil. Look at the quote and Page #. What would it have been like without Gil Hodges?
Take a look at the following blog. It's all history. Be a part of history!

PS. Why is #14 not retired at Dodger Stadium???
It is at the Mets.

I completely agree about Gil Hodges for the Hall of Fame, and Vin Scully has crusaded about this for years--when he had a vote, he backed Hodges strongly but to no avail. Here's hoping this helps wake up others in the future.
As to the retired number, the Dodgers have traditionally retired only the numbers of Hall of Famers. The exception was Jim Gilliam, who spent his career in a Dodger uniform and died while still with the team. This also has led to questions about why the Dodgers have not retired the uniform numbers of old Brooklyn players like Zack Wheat and Dazzy Vance.
