Thread: Yankees Hall of Fame

  1. Yankees Hall of Fame

Instead of retiring all the numbers of players, which at this rate, we will run out of pretty soon, we should make a Hall of Fame. Dont retire numbers for such players as Paul O'Neill, Tino Martinez, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettite, Alex Rodriguez, and others. Induct them in to Hall of Fame. All players whose numbers are/will be retired will automatically be inducted.

EDIT:Mods, I posted it in the wrong section. If you dont mind would you move this to Yankees forum?

It's not needed. That's what Monument Park is for.

The highest honor the Yankees could give you is a monument. The second highest is your number retired. The third highest is a plaque.

Anyone who has a monument had their number retired and had a plaque before they got a monument.

Whatever player your don't want to retire their number can simply get a plaque in Monument Park, like Lefty Gomez and Red Ruffing.

Yea, but what I am suggesting is they take those plaques out of monument park and make them part of Yankees HOF. Make more room for monument.

How do objects affixed to walls take away room for future monuments?
    No one can make you
    Do what they want to

    Than the lies
    That they tell you

Would taking pictures off your wall make room for a new entertainment center? Same logic. Use common sense. Besides, they have room for 2 more, which should be all they need for now. I don't see any new guys besides Jeter, and (fine) Rivera that will be worthy of a monument for the next decade or so.

We already have a Hall of Fame of sorts - it's Monument Park.

It's far more unique than the team HoF concept, far more well-respected amongst Yankee fans than a team HoF would be due to its long tradition, and would ultimately be redundant.
