Empty seats in NYS and CF

For all the complaining about empty seats in the two new baseball parks, the Jets and Giants aren't filling up every seat. I've gone to 2 Giants games, and 1 Jets game this season, and at no point of any of the games was the stadium completely filled. I went to the Jets game last Sunday, and I would estimate there was at least 10,000 empty seats.

    It's the economy stupid!

I have to agree. And ticketmaster released a boat load of tickets for the game on sunday at giants stadium. but the cheapest ticket is 80 with a $10 service fee. I really want to go to a game, but i cant pay 90, just too much. i understand the whole aspect of only 8 home games per year but it doesnt help that both the giants and jets have been playing pretty poorly as of late.

It's the economy plus the fact that the Jets & Giants suck.

    Go Vikes!

The reason that TicketMaster has tickets to sell, is that season ticket holders gave up their seats when they got the bill for their 2010 seats and PSL licenses. What individual is going to spend 80 grand for the RIGHT to buy 4 season tickets, and then go on and continue to buy tickets? Crazy....

    Cheers!

Its more that the ticket prices have skyrocketed over the past few years. I started on the Jets wait list in 1999 when tickets were $50. It took me 10 years to get to the head of the line and then they were $75 (I'm talking upper deck high row here)

NEXT YEAR in similar seats, I'm paying $95. Like Citi Field, the Upper deck should be full next year for Jet games as they've REALLY jacked up the prices down low. PSLs too (not in the UD for Jets thankfully)

I've got to say it was really nice putting my feet up in the 2nd half of the Jets/Jags game last week!

  7. Skol Favre!

Good luck w/ Favre in December. That choker will ruin your season like he did ours last year and GB the year before.

    More like got 'em there.

As for the Jets, Mangini was calling the plays. Enough said.

We're not talking football on a baseball site in a forum dedicated to baseball stadiums, are we?

    Nah, didn't think so

  13. As a side note, I'm going on a tour of the New Meadowlands Stadium next Saturday. Got to go to Citi and Yankee Stadium before they opened, so of course I had to go there too :-)

Take a camera Dan, and have a great time!

(Are you thinking of getting season tickets at the New Meadowlands?)

The friend I'm taking is considering it... personally, it doesn't really make sense for me to do it.

If the Jets played in Queens or Manhattan I'd definitely get them and probably go to almost all of the games, but it's such a production to get to NJ from Long Island that it's pretty prohibitive to go there for 8 games. I usually go to about 2 a year.

Plus, the last few years, I've been able to just get tickets on Ticketmaster. But if in the future it got to the point where it was much more expensive for non-season ticket holders to get tickets and I could unload the games I didn't go to without losing any money, I might consider it.

Yeah that's a pain in the ass. As bad as me getting to the Coliseum. That's gotta be pretty expensive too. I think the train went pretty good, they got us on really quick, but back at the Seacaucas station it was another story. They put me on the wrong train and it was hell from there. Something about a 5'8 white guy walking around in Newark at 2 AM isn't smart.

It's actually pretty cheap to get there. $7.00 for two LIRR CityTickets, and $7.75 round trip for NJ Transit.

When I took the train from seacaucus to the meadowlands it was $15.75 round trip on a Giants gameday. If you went by the website..it lies.

Edit: My first taste of the New Meadowlands Stadium will be April 10th. They will be having the Big City Lacrosse Classic there. I don't care about it though, I just want to see the stadium inside.
Parks I've been to- RYS, NYS, Shea, Citi, CBP, Fenway,Dodger, At&T, Oakland, Nationals, Wrigley and US Cellular.

He got them there in a weak NFC North and a weak NFC then threw away the chance to go to the Super Bowl.

Mangini wasn't calling plays and w/ Chad pennington 2 years earlier he led the Jets to the playoffs w/ half the talent.

Fvare had a great run in the mid 90s, since then he's been good but far from great. He's nowhere near as good as people think he is. He's talked about like he's up there w/ Tom Brady or that he is a top 5 all time QB when he isn't even close.

I don't know why you paid so much. Maybe you selected peak instead of off peak? Something is wrong about that. I definitely only paid $7.75 round trip from Penn Station to the Meadowlands.

I got thrown out of a bar in Wisconsin because of Favre. This was when he retired for the first time. They love their Favre.

A bunch of folks were doing shots to Brett Favre. Me and my big mouth added, "Yeah, his last pass was his best!"

I was told, "You have to leave now."

    I thought it was hysterical.

You looking for empty seats? Tune into the Jets next season-----that is if it isn't blacked out.

I have a sit-down scheduled with the Jets on December 2nd @ 2:30 to discuss renewing my season tickets of 30 years. I have dissected this 8 different ways and I can't justify it. I would be going from 6th row section 112 for $105 to UD higher than the last row of Giants Stadium for $125. I have to eat $500 worth of preseason tix on top of that and I will not consider a PSL which I am certain will depreciate - not appreciate... They are not good in perpetuity - only as long as they play in that stadium. My grandson will have to step up again to keep tickets in the family 30 years from now when this stadium is replaced. Way too much money all the way around. I plan on asking my rep to bet me that I won't be able to get Jets-New England tix next year down low off of StubHub in a PSL area for under $150. Anyone want that bet? I figure I will be able to save a prorated amount of about $5K a year (no PSL, no preseason games, no unwanted games at face) by going StubHub rather than FST in that stadium. And if the Jet's by some miracle ever make the playoffs and I am hell-bent to go, I'm sure I will be able to get tickets at a modest upcharge.

I'd imagine with the prices the Jets are charging, they'll have even more trouble selling the club tickets than the Mets and Yankees had. $395 per game is the reduced price? Come on.

I've been a STH for 26 years and I told them they can keep their tickets for next year. Unlike you I already sit in the upper deck (330) so moving to a less desirable seat would not come as a shock. Like you when I realized that once again I would be paying a 25% premium (paying for 10 games and going to 8), I opted out. I have no regrets because the Jets were offering me inferior seats (10 yd. line) at a higher price ($105) and breaking up the group of people I consider friends-----having shared a few Sundays with them over the years.
I have never considered buying a PSL and never will. I want to see a ghost town in those PSL areas next year. I would also like to see a few Kotite years and see what the PSL owners think of their investment.
