Former Pirate and Indian George Strickland passed away around 4:00 AM on Sunday February 21st. He played 2 1/2 seasons with the Pirates before being traded to the Indians on August 18, 1952 with Ted Wilks for Charlie Ripple, Johnny Berardino and $50,000. He was 84 years old.
