Good article in the Los Angeles Times regarding the growth of baseball in South Africa dated August 19, 2010. Ten years ago the number of estimated baseball players was 30,000 and it is now 250,000. I wish I was more computer literate to get a link posted.

According to a website called Baseball Latin America, MLB and New Era are co-sponsoring the biggest baseball tournament in Brazil which is unprecedented.

More rumblings of a potential league in Israel, this time with support from the New York Yankees and the owner of the basketball team Maccabi Haifa.

Great story, this time I wish Israeli baseball would 'hit a home run'.

It looks like the KBO is expanding by one team and the author speculates that another team will be added.

Anybody know what's up with baseball in Israel? I know the 2007 league failed, but I now I come across this article that seems to indicate league play on some level is occurring:

Here is an article related to Richard's above post:

    http://www.tradingmarkets.com/news/s...l-1382602.html

Apparently they want to put the team in Changwon. I thought I had read something about Pusan building a stadium. This author does not speculate on a 10th team, however.

According to our friends at True Stories of Korean Baseball, NCSoft has announced that it will own the team, and that it will be located in Changwon. (Actually, they'll probably play just next door at the Masan Baseball Stadium, where Busan's Lotte Giants have played some games during the regular season.)

The speculation is that there will have to be a 10th team now for scheduling reasons. If the Ansan city government agrees to move forward with plans to build a dome there, an American businessman has said he wants to locate a team there.

Meanwhile, the KBO said there has been no serious discussion about the addition of a new team in Ansan. “We have not received any formal request from the man or the agency,” a KBO spokesman told The Korea Herald.
I wonder how the KBO feels about foreign ownership in their league? I know the Japanese would not allow it.

Major League Baseball Clinic in Brazil Now Concluded
. Unfortunately, the MLB's Elite Baseball Camp media day didn't yield much news.

Maybe the MLB camp in Brazil is an indicator that Brazill may be included in the next WBC.

That is a good article above.

On the website 'True Stories of Korea Baseball', the author mentions a meeting of the three commissioners of the Japanese, Korean and Taiwanes leagues and speculates something major could be brewing.

Apparently, Ken Griffey, Jr. was in the Phillipines for a baseball clinic.

Cool article on Rays academy in Brazil and Brazilian baseball on IBAF website. Will someone teach me how to link stories to this website?
